Description And now, CodeHunter #3: Ryo.

“A Yoshi egg was swiped from Yoshi’s Island by a mischievous Fly Guy. While flying over Hyrule, a flock of crows startled the Fly Guy into dropping it into the Lost Woods. The egg hatched into a green Yoshi, who quickly found himself alone and, well, lost. He wasn’t alone for long, as a Moblin appeared. The Yoshi fled for his life, screaming, but couldn’t find a way to safety. When the Moblin was right on top of him, Link came to the rescue, having followed the Yoshi’s screams. He defeated the Moblin and brought the Yoshi out of the woods.

“Having no need for a companion on his quest, Link brought him to a local swordmaster, who took in the Yoshi as a companion and dubbed him Ryo. Captivated by Link’s skill with a sword, Ryo asked the swordmaster to teach him in the way of the sword, so he could protect people too. The swordmaster obliged. Years later, Ryo was ready, and decided to go out into the world.

“On a trip to Hyrule Town Square to buy some potions, Josh and Neko had a run-in with some bandits that swiped their Rupees. The two gave chase. Just before the bandits got away, they were blocked by a figure in a green tunic, holding a shield and a Gilded Sword. The figure was Ryo, wearing and holding what he’d acquired on his travels. He ordered the bandits to return the Rupees they stole, but they refused, and drew their daggers. Josh and Neko caught up, and since it was a fight the bandits wanted, they and Ryo decided it’s a fight they’d get.

After sending the bandits packing and getting the Rupees back, Ryo complimented the boy and his Meowth on their fighting skills. They returned the compliment, and a friendship was formed. Ryo, tired from his travels, asked if he could live with them. They gladly said yes, saying they had plenty of room for one more friend.”

While living with the other two, Ryo became a fan of F-Zero races after watching them on TV. He declared he wanted to become a pilot. Josh, not wanting to deny a friend of his dream, took him to register for a F-Zero pilot’s license, then to Dr. Clash for a machine. Clash built the Moon Sword for him.

Out of all my characters, Ryo has probably had the least changes to his design. I mostly changed his shield around, and his weapon, which was once a Kokiri Sword, is now a Gilded Sword.

I've found Ryo to be one of my harder characters for me to draw. It's mostly the hat, which never seems to look right.
