This drawing is of a Pathfinder RPG Automaton character called Lantern Number 9, who along with his clockwork british bulldog Mr Churchill searches for clues of long gone civilizations to help guide the souls of the dead haunting it. along with the characters themselves a haunted mechanical clock and a lantern shield are depicted as these are important to his character.

Artwise this character was interesting to work on, I haven't drawn any robotic characters before so this was quite a challenge and I probably added far too many details. Also the color scheme is a bit dark, I really wanted a lighter one, but I manage to break it up a bit with copper/bronze colored joints and the like.

If there is one thing I would redo it is the stance of Lantern Number 9, it is a lot less dynamic than the human reference I had.

The background was based on several references handed to me by the game master of the game. In the background the small cartouche should say Anubis in a reference to the egyptian god that guided and guarded the dead from the land of the living to the land of the dead.
