“This creature, similar to the Loch Ness Monster, is found in Switzerland. According to most accounts, the Elbst inhabits Lake Selisbergsee in the Canton of Uri near Lucerne. The earliest description of it dates from 1584, and the most recent from 1926. Descriptions vary but most sources suggest that it has a long serpentine body, a large head and four clawed feet. Some have said it resembles a dragon, although, if this is the case, it does not appear to breathe fire. One description says that its head resembles that of a huge pig. All accounts agree that the monster likes to emerge from its lake at night and dine off sheep grazing in the alpine pastures.”
