A company I once worked for had been owned by another company up in Wigton, there in Cumbria. Whenever we had visitors from there, I always asked what part of Scotland they're from, due to the accent bleeding across the border. Even seen a blown up photo of the town with the myriad islands scattered about that broad bay. Wanted to go there just to sail from island to island.

Hi, thanks for dropping by. I guess the 'broad bay' you talk about is the Solway Firth, with Cumbria (England) on one side & Dumfries & Galloway (Scotland) on the other. I lived there for a number of years and you're right, it's a beautiful coast with many rugged little islands, most unpopulated & deserted - the currents can be pretty mean for sailing though!

When our company, Innovia Films (we make cellophane), was part of the Cumbrian holdings, some of our management people were invited over for a visit and some intermural games with theirs. They brought back other photos and I was envious of their going over. Now that I'm retired (suffered a medical condition that forced my early retirement) I just dream about going over.
