I leave you this warning, for life has many dangers
And I will not be there to calm all of your tears
There are men and women who will seek to destroy you
And your heart may break many times in your life
People seemingly not care about your tender soul
I raise in you a flower of hope, a well-spring of delight
And I pray that through all your days it will see you through
My child, my precious one, flesh of my flesh, kin of my kin,
These words are all I can give you
For I fear I will not see you grow
I fear that before long I will have to leave you
But know that you are always loved
That in the arms of God you are safe
And you will always be my child
