Description
One of 6 baby rabbits found in a nest in the backyard by German Shepards Ziggy and Kahn. I was extremely reluctant to pick them up, however I think that this was a better alternative than being mauled by two playful dogs.Related content

If you do come upon a disturbed rabbit nest, it's best to repair it as best you can. The mother rabbit will come back later and usually move the babies to safety. Rabbit mothers are very loyal to their kids and won't abandon them.
Alternately if something happened to the mother they can be hand raised but eventually their wild instincts kick and and they run off to live in the wild. Remember American wild rabbits aren't related to the domestic rabbits we keep as pets. Our pet bunnies are descendants of the European rabbit.
Though you certainly did a good deed by saving those little buns. You've earned plenty of karma points on that one.

I once saw a kit like this in my backyard with its mother, and I couldn't get a good shot with my camera. I love this...!
By the way, wild rabbits *can* be taken care of by people, and you can use formula--kitten formula from PetCo works fine. Also, touching rabbits does not cause the mother to abandon them, as some people think. However, it can stress out the bunny. :/

well, they ran away a few days later with the parent rabbit, and we saw them (at least we assume it was them) about a year later around the yards so I suppose they're alright.
