It sometimes looked to be heading east, the other times west, and once even appeared to be flowing in both directions simultaneously. I didn't trust a river like this, but that suited me: it was not a river that offered you bearings, giving no sense of a fixed location or place, at all. Like the re-directed annals of time, before me, late into my career through time's annals, it seemed Brispolis River did so on purpose. It wanted me to be lost, as indeed the world before me is. I wanted a challenge...'
