Description I went out to see the Great American Eclipse today. It was only a partial eclipse where I live rather than a total eclipse. But it was still worth it for me nevertheless.

I do remember the 2017 solar eclipse, but I couldn’t actually look at it. But I do remember how it affected my surroundings. The area around me looked significantly darker like someone turned down the brightness using photo-editing software. And the surrounding temperature cooled down to roughly 70°F (and mind you, that eclipse happened on a hot August day when the high was near 100°F).

Anyway, this time, I had a proper pair of eclipse-viewing glasses for this year’s event. For the first hour or so, I was able to observe the eclipse unimpeded. But later, my area got cloud cover for a while, and I wasn’t able to see it clearly until after 4 PM.

But every so often, the eclipse would peek through the clouds, and it would be just the right visibility for me to observe with the naked eye. It didn’t happen often, and I only had a narrow window each time. But I did get a few photos of it. This one in particular was the eclipse at its “peak”, at least where I live. We essentially got a crescent sun, so to speak.

All in all, I’m glad I got to see this eclipse, and I’ll be looking forward to the next one in 2044.
