Description I’m sorry to say that Page 45 of Princess of Psykron Issue 2 is coming along more slowly than I anticipated. The fact that I just started playing Pokémon Shining Pearl may not help matters.

Fortunately, I do have a few pages planned out in advance. And I hate to leave you empty-handed.

So today, we’ll be looking at the feared warlord Rau’Zul, who rules the Pyraqs with an iron fist.

Years ago, the Pyraqs faced the beginning of a dangerous water shortage. It was a crisis that the old Pyraq rulership was ill-equipped to deal with. Sensing weakness, the esteemed general Rau’Zul rallied against the government and started a massive propaganda campaign to convince the ailing Pyraqs that he had the answers to all of their problems, fostering a cult of personality around himself. Then he collaborated with the Pyraq military and plotted a coup against the government. After a swift and bloody revolution, Rau’Zul succeeded in overthrowing the old Pyraq government and established himself as the new ruler of Pyrahn. Yet most Pyraqs still live in poor living conditions, while Rau’Zul continues to consolidate power for himself.

After years of funding weapons technology development and building an army, Rau’Zul waged war on Psykron (the first time Pyrahn had attacked Psykron in decades). He managed to successfully conquer Psykron and is now interested in expanding his rule to other planets.

Rau’Zul is a grim, brutal authoritarian who only cares about power and personal glory. He has nothing but contempt for most other races like humans, Psykronians, etc. Rau’Zul deems these races fit only to be enslaved, or even outright destroyed as punishment if they incur his wrath.

At the same time, Rau’Zul has little regard for his own people, viewing most of his fellow Pyraqs as expendable tools to further his own goals. He has no tolerance for weakness or disobedience. He expects every Pyraq (and residents of Pyraq-occupied worlds) to submit to his will and fight to the death for his cause. He cannot stand even the slightest affront to his dignity, and Rau’Zul is quick to anger and loses his composure when things don’t go his way. He convinced the Pyraqs that the Psykronians are to blame for their problems. Yet when the late Psykronian queen Kythea attempted to reach out to Rau’Zul and make peace, he rejected her in favor of his own selfish wants.

Rau’Zul should NEVER be taken lightly. The Pyraq emperor is an epic force to be reckoned with, easily one of Krya’s most dangerous opponents.

- In his right hand, he holds a staff with a miniature star fueled by nuclear fusion. He can wield it as a mace or a flamethrower, or he can activate a magnifying lens within the staff to aim focused laser beams up to 18,000°F. He can also trigger an explosion by slamming the staff on the ground.
- From his left hand, he can launch missiles, fire EMPs and a continuous laser beam, superheat objects he touches, and activate force fields around himself.

But even without his vast Pyraq army, warship fleets, legions of robot drones, and his own arsenal of solar-powered weapons technology, Rau’Zul is a vicious hand-to-hand fighter. Like other Pyraqs (and his Psykronian rivals Krya and Varkon), Rau’Zul is superhumanly strong and durable, and he has years of combat experience. He is also extremely resistant to high heat and radioactive environments. While he does have a sense of honor, he is mercilessly violent in combat. He is not above breaking his enemies’ bones or ripping their limbs off their bodies with his superhuman strength (much like Kratos from the God of War series).

But as powerful as he is, Rau’Zul is not invincible. Like other Pyraqs, Rau’Zul hates the cold (whereas Psykronians like Krya thrive in the cold). Pyraq technology fails when doused in water. And while Rau’Zul becomes more savage when angered, he also gets less coordinated. Perhaps Krya can use these to her advantage.

Also, rumors have quietly spread among elite Pyraq officers that Rau’Zul doesn’t have the complete authority he thinks he does, and someone else is pulling on his strings….

Well, that’s it for now. I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I’ll see you when I upload Page 45 of Princess of Psykron Issue 2 (which hopefully will happen soon), in which Krya takes on Rau’Zul.

See you then!
