I came up with the idea that Debbie and Tess have some history together, Tess was (and still is) kind of a bitch.

The kind of bitch Debbie dreamed to be,letting herself be manipulated by Tess, but the whole superhero thing and Nancy as a friend with the time made Debbie reconsider her life, so now shes a little bit of a bitch who cares a tiny little bit about the others.

Tess wasnt happy knowing she lost control over Debbies life, and at some point she did something really stupid that gave her the electrical powers, and blames Nancy and Debbie for it, although she loves the attention she gets in the media even if it is bad.
