Storyline One: Snowcatcher - Shadows

It took a bit of figuing out, but Snowcatcher was set up with her classes. She just picked the most basic schedule, mostly to avoid having to figure something else out. Most ponies and creatures had a totally different schedule, something correlating to their passion or talent. Snowcatcher... was just put in the basic exploration coruse. Most of her classes were simple, Equestrian History... Math... Ponish... and then a sampling of talent classes throughout the school year. The program was designed to help ponies, or creatures, find their talents by trying all kinds of different things. First up for Snowcatcher was... baking.

-------

"Welcome Clath!"

Snowcatcher had never been in a kitchen too much before. The room was split into two parts, the front being a classroom with large tables, the back being a kitchen with many cooking stations. The pony standing at the front of the room had written her name on the chalkboard, 'Mrs.Twistaloo' was her name.

"Glad to thee so many faces here! Well, as you all are probably aware, my name is Mrs.Twistaloo, and I'll be teaching you all an basic cooking. Just to let you all know who aren't aware, this is a hybird clath, and thome of the thudents are in the cutie-curiothity program, though not every thudent is going to be with us the whole clath." It was abundantly clear which ponies were witch when Snowcatcher looked around the room. Plenty of ponies already had baking or cooking related cutie marks, cupcakes, candies... ice cream? A few that didn't just looked so excited you could tell this is what they were signed up for.

"But that doesn't mean you all shouldn't try to make friends with one another! You'll all be paired into groups and pairs for most of the time in this clath to promote that! Thpeaking of that, we'll jump right into our first activity!" Mrs.Twist pushed forward a small stack of papers on her desk. "Get yourselves into pairs, and you'll be working with a partner to follow this simple rethipe!" Other ponies in the room started to shift and move, while Snowcatcher stayed put. "Once you've gotten into your groups, come up here to grab a sheet and get yourselves to a cooking station! And I'll be around to help with baking if you need it!"

Before she even finished speaking, ponies were already forming groups with one another. The few that didn't had others approach them, either to form a group, or to help them find a group. Snowcatcher had sat at the back of the class, and unfortunately for her, the ones who sat near her were already talking to other ponies. The other classes were easier... the ones she's had so far at least. The teachers just talked about their classes, the most they did was ask the students a couple questions, which Snowcatcher could easily avoid.

"Heya Snowcatcher!" Snowcatcher was startled out of her thoughts, hurriedly sitting up from the desk. It was that yellow pony she met at orientation and hadn't interacted with much since. "Do you not have a partner?" He was the other pony she saw going around the classroom helping the others too. "Um..." She didn't know anypony here, well, besides... "Lets see... most ponies are already in groups with one another... actually, why don't you pair up with me?" He beamed. "Huh? But.. but aren't you...?" "I'm only a student representative, that means I'm still a student like you! And I need a group just like any other student!" "...Oh, okay then... thank you." He turned to the kitchen stations. "No problem Snowy!"

...Snowy?

"Wait, don't we need-" "Oh yeah! Hold on." He ran off to the front of the class to grab a sheet. Kiwi Tart was his name, she only remembered that now by getting a glimpse of his cutie mark.

-------

"Alright Clath! Now that I thee you're in groups, let's get started on our first project!" All the kitchen stations had been set up already, with all the materials and ingredients each group needed sitting out. The room was full of idle chatter, despite Mrs.Twist trying to speak to the class at the same time. Some students were still arriving at their stations, but Snowcatcher and Kiwi had already started down the list.

"Are you sure we should be doing this...?" Kiwi pulled the bag of flower towards him. "Oh, it's no problem, Mrs. Twist gave us paper instructions for a reason! Oh!" Kiwi reached across the counter and grabbed one of the mixing utensils from the container. "Here!" Kiwi hooved the mixer to Snowcatcher, along with the bowl. "You can start mixing while I pour the flower in!" Snowcacher looked at the objects for a second, before taking the mixer with both of her hooves. "I guess so..." She'd never tried baking before, or any kind of complicated task like it. Even books were hard to use for non-unicorns... but she could at least try? Kiwi already had the flower in his hooves, as Snowcatcher hurriedly tried to figure out how to hold the objects. She ended up holding the bowl with one hoof, trying to wrap the other around the mixer. "Well yeah, I guess that works!" Kiwi started to pour the flower into the bowl... and he had a much better grip than Snowcatcher did. Snowcatcher tried to start mixing the newly formed batter around, but her hooves were already losing their flimsy grip. In an attempt to grab onto the mixer before it slid further into the bowl, Snowcatcher ended up putting her hoof down too fast, launching the end in the batter up like a see-saw, before it fell out of her hoof and clattered onto the floor.

Batter was flung everywhere... pretty much exclusively on her. Even on her snout. She hid into herself, petrified that the whole class just saw her fumble. Even Kiwi was chuckling. "Heh hey, it's okay! Everycreature is busy doing their own things to notice a little fumble." She looked through the strands of hair covering her face, ponies had noticed. She made a total fool of herself on the first day... just goes to show what a mess of a pony she was...

She felt a hoof on her shoulder. "Hey Snowy, it's alright, it took me a long time to get a grip of these things with my big clumsy hooves." She looked at him through the strands of hair covering her face as she hid. He was smiling at her, waving his big hooves around. "Here, I'll go get some paper towels to clean all this up." Just a big mess...

(I gotta say, doing the writing is a lot harder than making the drawing, lol.)
