Description
Our AD&D party, the players at least. The group is doing Expedition to the Barrier Peaks and because the module was designed for a certain amount of automatic death occuring they were given a large contingent of NPCs. In no particular rush to finish the party has meticulously cleared deck one, but not gone deeper yet, along the way they pulled back twice taking some time to raise the fallen NPCs (no player has died yet but 9 NPCs had to be raised the first time and 12 the second time - there were 15 total), in the last portion a number of dopplegangers appeared and the party decided it was going to be faster and easier to kill everyone with a double and raise those who turned out to be the real people. When pressed about their activities it was revealed that earlier in their careers, Castle Greyhawk, they had got in the habit of using Fireball and Lightning bolt in close combat as most of the team was partially resistant, it turned out they hadn't completely moved away from those habits and their new not-so-resistant team members aren't appreciating the recklessness (though so far the amount of treasure coming out, raise dead being thrown around loosely, and the promise of even more treasure later has kept them around).
Half Elf with a Pseudodragon on his back is Gomez (has psionic powers, but best option is usually the Hammer of Thunderbolts)
Human with tiny person/gen on shoulder is Sterling (my pet character, currently playing with the Hat of Difference)
Elf with gen in the air over shoulder is Lyshana (has 2 scimitars of speed and can't be surprised speeding up most encounters)
Ogre Magi with the backpack is Victor (would have called him Hassan but player didn't watch enough Bugs Bunny growing up)
Deck 1 was mostly vegepygmies, but once the party starts into the lower decks the monster variety increases substantially.
