Back to these three, this was mostly to reposition Zephina so she could be seen more easily, her preference is to normally be directly on Sterling's shoulder but this position would allow talking face to face and ensuring she has his attention.

Zephina is a gen which was introduced in AD&D 2nd Edition with the Al'Quadim core book, they are related to genies and act as go-betweens for a type of genie specialist wizard and the larger genies, in addition they fetch spells allowing a wide variety of options but making combat casting unlikely unless an ambush is planned well in advance. They were a great option for utility wizards who could send the gen for any spell desired as the need arose.

Sterling was made using an old Greyhawk setting option that was later dropped because anyone knowing the system would just make a super-character (in our group it wasn't a problem since everyone was doing it and they were essentially a group of super-heroes in D&D and any other world via dimensional travel). In spite of their power before we made the group Sterling was part of two other parties were lost in TPK or near TPK because after breezing easily past low level opponents they ran headlong into powerful opponents and were killed off quickly. The group has been going for months, so far all but one adventure has been in Greyhawk and they are currently in level 3 of Expedition to the Barrier Peaks running around in the crashed starship (which to me looks a lot like the saucer portion of a Constitution Class from Star Trek).

The Master of All nature of the heroes got me looking at Robert Heinlein for inspiration for the setting and I'm looking at working some thing from Magic Inc and at least some of his future history setting used in the Lazarus Long works.
