Description 17 hours into the search the USS Canada found the life pods of the missing trainee ship. A force, possibly a tractor beam had pushed the trainee ship into the nearby gas giant leaving the cadets and officers to drift in life pods. No one knew who the attackers were but starfleet had the area put on alert.
