This is really fantastic! It's strange to see an image set in space that feels so claustrophobic. I think that fits well with the theme, though. Amazing illo.

If you consider the Karman line the "border" between earth and space, don't you think it's naive to think a Mexican couldn't illegally immigrate across it? They are experts after all.

*I kid the Mexicans, you guys keep doing what your doing...my lawn.

In all honesty, astronaut Rodolfo Neri Vela was the first Mexican national to fly into space back in 1985. Jose Hernandez is an immigrant born son of Mexicans and another astronaut. There may not be a lot of Mexicans in space, but I wouldn't say it is impossible. Mexico just created it's own space agency on April 20th, 2010, so there might be an influx of Mexicans in space before you know it!

Their building a commercially owned spaceport in New Mexico, private citizens will be able to go into space, but they gotta pay, there is also a project in Kansas which is an elevator of sorts, a long cable anchors on earth is lifted into space, the centrifugal force keeps the top of the cable from crashing back down and they built a lift apparatus where people experience. Sorry my friends an astrophysicist in Baltimore, he's got the skinny on a lot of the current space projects, tell them to keep dreaming the dream.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kessima In reply to ComeNozes [2010-05-22 17:59:04 +0000 UTC]

Mexico is in Central America, yes, but it's not in the implied country, which is the United States of America.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

ComeNozes In reply to Kessima [2010-05-22 23:36:29 +0000 UTC]

Actually Mexico is in North America, so it would be better if you had used USA instead.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kessima In reply to ComeNozes [2010-05-23 00:54:03 +0000 UTC]

There's a lot of debate over whether it should be listed as part of North America or called a part of "Central America" because it's in a fairly separate region. I live in the US, so I figure you and I are on the same page XD

It's not... My piece... I was merely pointing out that the artist was using America as a nickname for the US as many people do. No hard feelings, mate?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ComeNozes In reply to Kessima [2010-05-23 20:35:38 +0000 UTC]

I'm not from USA, here we know pretty clearly Mexico is on North America, there's no reason why it wouldn't, it's right under USA...
Oh yeah, that's right. Well, the artist may get to know about it anyways then...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kessima In reply to ComeNozes [2010-05-23 21:00:46 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I myself would refer to it as part of North America, but I know several people from Mexico who strongly prefer it be reffered to as Central. I was merely trying to be sensitive
I guess I approached my point a little bit oddly XD All Im really trying to say is that the artist was reffering to the US as America because there isn't really another nationality name that it has.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

eliarossana In reply to Kessima [2010-05-22 19:23:36 +0000 UTC]

You are wrong, MΓ©xico is in America, America is all the continent not only EUA.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kessima In reply to eliarossana [2010-05-22 20:13:09 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I know XD Thats basically what I said. Central America (sometimes counted as part of North America) is where Mexico is located. Other politically-correct American countries include, for instance, Brasil and Canada. But, in this instance, the America reffered to is the nickname of the USA, a separate country from MΓ©xico.
