Bearkit and her siblings, Doekit and Elkkit, were born during Newleaf to Moosebriar and Spiderwhisker. Moosebriar, their mother, was doting and careful with kits, enough so that Doekit and Bearkit resented her, cursing their mother and Elkkit, who enjoyed the treatment. Doekit and Bearkit grew close in this shared feeling, spending all their time together. During their first moon, Bearkit and Doekit attempted to leave camp while Moosebriar was asleep, although Bearkit was caught by Spiderwhisker before she could make it anywhere. Doekit, however, successfully managed to escape, and was later found dead. This left the family in shambles, Spiderwhisker turning distant from his family to cope, while Moosebriar doubled her careful treatment of her remaining kits. Bearkit, in her grief, refused to speak to anyone. Bearkit grew to hate her mother and brother, wishing they would act more like her father and just leave her alone. Elkkit would often try to play with Bearkit, who would always refuse. As they grew older, Elkkit gave up on Bearkit, turning solely to his mother for company. Moosebriar insisted that if Bearkit was not talking, she might as well learn sign. Bearkit reluctantly agreed, if only to get her mother off her back. Bearkit picked signing up quickly, and found solace in learning something that she was good at.

apprenticeship [ 6 - 12 moons ] >
Bearkit was glad to be made an apprentice, as it meant she could get away from her stifling mother. Now Bearpaw, she was assigned Snakestrike as a mentor. Bearpaw had never really interacted with the tom before, and was surprised by his harshness towards her. Snakestrike, as it turned out, was Moosebriar's brother, and was upset with Bearpaw for the way she treated her mother. He insisted that if Bearpaw couldn't stand being adored, she should learn to be a good warrior through hardship. Snakestrike worked Bearpaw to the bone, giving her challenge after challenge to ensure she was as strong as possible. Bearpaw relished in the chance to stretch her paws and test her strength. She particularly enjoyed sparring, and grew to be very good at it. Eventually, Bearpaw began to speak again, though still kept most of her thoughts to herself.

warriorhood [ 12 - 30 moons ] >
When Bearpaw was named Bearfall, she was almost disappointed. She had loved everything Snakestrike had thrown at her, and once she had finished her apprenticeship, Snakestrike wanted nothing more to do with her. Now with no one else to push her limits, she felt empty. For the first few moons of her warriorhood, she let her skills falter, doing the bare minimum to pass as a warrior. One leafbare, Moosebriar caught whitecough. Bearfall thought nothing of it, and didn't visit her sick mother once. When it turned to greencough and Moosebriar died, Boarfall held vigil, but hardly mourned. Seeing this, Elkfoot confronted her. The two got into a fight, which turned physical. Bearfall managed to pin her brother, though kept her claws sheathed. Bearfall was ashamed of how excited the fight had made her, and decided that she needed to be a better cat. BEarfall dedicated her life from then on to serving her clan, determined to be a good warrior if she couldn't be a good cat.
