Description Neariah swallowed saliva, trying to quench the thirst of her dry throat. Neariah peered down at the floor, apprehensive to be the bearer of bad news. 'Maybe I was a bit too rash...' she thought to herself. Beads of sweat were now clearly visible on her forehead. Sarah curiously looked at her, as if she could see her anxiety rising. The silence was starting to cause Neariah's airway to slowly become drier, and she decided to break it.
"Last night," she slowly began. "I had an incident with Krandle..."
Hearing this, Benji shook his head, sensing trouble. Debra glanced at Benji, putting a look of anxiety on her face also.
"I was in my room, and I woke up when I felt a fly on my face. It wasn't a fly, it was a Vigil," she continued.
"Vigil...a compact audio-video device controlled by remote. Invented by Proxy Oxford..." Sarah uncontrollably stated.
"Proxy..." Debra stated sullenly. Detecting a soft spot, Benji coughed and signaled Neariah to continue.
"I caught and disassembled the Vigil, and traced the signal to Avenger HQ. I called up HQ the whole night, demanding that Krandle come to our barracks. When he came, I swiftly went down to confront him," she angrily stated.
"He said that Zach was illegally registered. I-i had to! If I didn't Zach would have indefinitely been hunted down by Deceivers! I hotwired the mainframe to allow Zach to register. Krandle was bugging our place for months, I've been disposing of the cameras once detected. I left one camera stand, so he could see Zach's exhibition with me, to see his talents," she stammered.
"He didn't care! He threatened to terminate his labyrhythm causing his death! I lost it, and I exploded. I told him that his abuse of power has gone too far, and we wouldn't take it any longer," she said, building up suspense.
Benji gritted his teeth, sensing the outcome.
"I've severed the Soul Guardians from the Avengers. He gave us till the end of the week to evacuate, and to leave all Avenger equipment behind," Neariah concluded, lowering her head again.
Debra grimaced, smirking at Sarah. Benji rose, slamming his hands on the conference room desk.
"Dammit, why?! Are you mental, bitch?!" Benji yelled, rage in his voice.
Neariah stood devastated by Benji's words. Tears welling up in he eyes, her heartstrings stabbed, she ran away down the staircase. Sarah saw this, her heart feeling Neariah's pain. Sarah rose, and angrily turned to Benji.
"What the hell is your problem, huh? You didn't have to say that, you heartless bastard!" she snorted, and ran after Neariah.
"Go to hell," Benji retorted, slamming down into his chair.
Debra then rose, and walked over to Benji. Sensing trouble, Benji rose to calm Debra.
"Don't be hasty..." Benji steadily warned.
"Hasty...Hasty?! You wanna see hast?! Listen you fucked up little damaged soul, if you are going to be such a negative bastard, either heal your attitude, or get moving!" Debra screamed, slapping Benji square on his cheek. Benji stood, frozen with his hand on his cheek.
"Hmph," Debra scoffed, walking down the stairs.
