Kira Ripley was born on Earth on December 17, 2527. Her father, Ivan Ripley, is a researcher in ONI’s Section Three and intended for Kira to follow in his shadow, but instead followed a similar yet different path. She served in the special intelligence team Kilo-Five due to her skill in xenoanthropology, having studied the Sangheili beside Professor Evan W. Philipps. From there, she and her allies worked to sow doubt in the Covenenant’s Sangheili and is partly responsible for their departure from the Covenant hegemony and served as a buffer for the joint UNSC–Sangheili forces during Operation: Far Storm alongside Olympia Vale.
During the early stages of the Spartan-IV program, she assisted her father in the collaboration between Lethbridge Industrial and the Sangheili which developed tech such as the Anubis-class of Mjolnir, with its core components “grown” from Sangheili armor forges. During that time, she was afforded the privilege of touring Sanghelios and observing them. This served three purposes: cultural exhibition, technological oversight, and intel-gathering on Sangheili engineering. Her observations included the development of various vehicles, during which she befriended shipmaster Rtas ‘Vadum. As a result, she was later requisitioned her own unique set of the Anubis-class she helped produce, one of few, and took after the likeness of Sangheili Ultras.
Eventually, she was selected by Musa Ghanem (with recommendations by ONI) for the Spartan-IV program after her performance in the War Games and efforts in Operation: Far Storm, and was among the earliest Spartan-IVs, having become a Spartan in 2553. She worked towards the dissolution of Jul ‘Mdama’s Covenant. She was later assigned to the UNSC Sacrifice as an instructor and eventually became its Spartan Commander.
