= Full View =- Well, this is one of the MANY self portraits that I have had to do in my life . . . but I still think that it turned out rather well. Even though traditional pieces never look as nice in photographs as they do in person.
- - The assignment was a "straight-forward" self portrait. From about shoulders up, using a mirror to give it a more intimate/personal feel to it as apposed to a strange pose or facial expression that is more "staged".
Done in graphite = 22x30

i like the rendering of hair,

Woah... thats amazing. I've tried doing self portraits of myself with either a photograph or a mirror but they never work out! xD I feel like I can't be honest with myself and draw my flaws or traits without over-doing anything... have you got any suggestions?

Thanks. And what I do when drawing self portraits is show them to my family. Because they see my face WAY more then I do . . . so they can usually tell me if something is wrong and I just didn't see it. They usually are REALLY helpful

Hehe, you're very welcome. Your technique is extremely good and the strokes are so clean. The hair looks like I can see light reflect perfectly in every individual strand; and your eyes are done just as well.

- Well I have to say that I have had people play with my hair as well. >__> There was a girl who sat behind me in middle school that used to play with it, and I always have people ask me if they can braid it XDD

it's a good portrait, but the lighting almost makes you look like Jesus. hahaha here comes my zealotry...lol but really....Graphite is like...my main tool and I can't draw anyone that excellently. *applauds*
