BrokenTori Vega moved her book from her desk to her bed, and a note slipped from the pages. Tori looked at it questioningly, and then decided to open it rather than throw it away like she'd planned. She smiled warmly at the handwriting she recognized; it was her girlfriend's. Jade must've slipped it in her lyric book when she wasn't looking. Only two words were scrawled in Jade's nice yet sloppy handwriting: 'Te Amo'
"Jade..." Tori said, and took the piece of paper and kissed it silently. She couldn't take it anymore. She hadn't seen her beloved Jadelyn in a week since she left for New York to record her new song. She'd asked Sikowitz and the other teachers if she could leave, and to Tori's inner conflicting feelings of happiness and saddness as her girlfriend would be leaving for a few weeks, but it was for her dreams to come true left her in a hot mess.
Before turning on the computer to see if her girlfriend was on SplashFace, she tripped over the dirty clothes pile from the day Jade had left. Jade's hoodie that she let her wear to remind Tori of her as a sort of 'going away' present lay with her undergarments and pants from the day before. She picked it up and put it on, smelling the scent of Jade.
It's familiarity made relaxed her, and when she clicked on the 'Scizzors'Luv' icon with her girlfriends' face on it, she smiled.
"Honey, are you alright?" Jade asked, as her face appeared on the screen.
"Just missing you." Tori said weakly as she took in her lover's appearance.
"Well you're in luck then," Jade said, and grinned at her girlfriend."I'm on the plane."
Tori's face lit up."Yay!" she couldn't help but shout, even though it was late at night and her parent's were sleeping. Oh well, if she woke them up, she woke them up.
"Why did you chose the record company in New York. You know," Tori said still puzzled by her girlfriend's choice of record companies,"there was one right here in L.A. that would've LOVED you."
"I wanted to stop by and see my dad, love." She said simply, and Tori smiled. It was one of her dreams that Jade and her dad would get along better. After all, she'd want to see her future father in law be nicer to the both of them.
"And how did that go?" Tori asked, and Jade grinned again, sending Tori's heart into overdrive. Jade was too sexy when she smiled.
As Jade started to talk, a loud voice boomed over the speakers and the plane took a jolt to the left.
"EXCUSE ME PASSENGERS," the pilot said louder over the intercom,"THE PLANE HAS LOST AN ENGINE!"(as he said that, another loud jolt sent the plane rocketing to the other side,)"ALRIGHT, TWO ENGINES! WE'RE GOING TO TRY AND LAND THIS PLANE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE,"
"JADE!" Tori screamed from her computer chair, tears in her eyes.
"Shhhh honey," Jade said, barely audible with all the hysteria going on with the plane,"I'll be okay, everything will be alright, I prom-" The half Latina's girlfriend started, but everything was cut off. Tori was beyond hysterical. Her mother came in and tried comforting her, hugging her and rubbing her shoulders gently, while her father flipped to the news. There was news of a plane crashing in the Meridian Forest. Jade's flight.
"There were a reported estimate of twenty dead on this flight that held seventy-five passengers. No names will be released as of now." The reporter said, and Tori's mother and father left the room, seeing that their daughter needed to be alone.
Tori could hear it. Her heart was broken.
She laid back on her bed, with the crumpled up notebook paper and kissed it silently again, one more time.
"Te Amo," she whispered to herself, and cried herself to sleep.
She woke up the next morning to her phone playing a familiar ringtone. Jade's?
She answered, only to be crying and smiling some more.
"I promised, didn't I?" Her girlfriends voice asked her over the phone.
