Description Harry Potter: Things She Taught Me
  Chapter Two: The Sorting Banquet
"Alright, alright," Headmistress McGonagall said loudly over the roudy and excited students."Its time to sort the first years! Now, I hope you give these bright, new young pupils a nice cheer when they enter your house. Afterwards, I would like to make a few announcements."
"Harry, you're the head of Gryffindor now, you need to sort..." Hermione whispered to him. Harry stood up awkwardly and found the stool in the corner. He placed it on the chair and took the list from Professor McGonagall. He found the sorting hat and started on the list.
"Addison, Harold." He said loudly over the now silent hall.
A scrawny dark haired boy with oversized robes excitedly made his way over to the stool, and sat on it. Harry placed the hat on the boy's head.
"Ah! Another brilliant Addison. I know just where to put you," The hat started,"RAVENCLAW!"
The boy jumped, and made his way to the blue-clad group at the table on the far left.
"Arieana, Helen." Harry said, getting used to his voice over the students'.
Now, a girl, chubby and short, moved slowly but surely over to the stool.
    "HUFFLEPUFF!"
"Boley, Tyrone."
   "SLYTHERIN!"
"Hanely, Lilieth." Harry called.
  "RAVENCLAW!"
And Harry was getting to the end of the list.
"Weasley, Jilian." Harry called, but then looked surprised. This must have been Bill and Fluer's child. Harry had heard of her.
"GRYFFINDOR!" The hat shouted. Cheers and claps rose at this table above all the others, and she went and sat by Harry's godson, Teddy Lupin.
Harry rolled the list back up and handed it to professor McGonagall, then took his seat next to Hermione.
"Now, we have new teachers this year," She started, "and here they are. Professor Potter, your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and head of Gryffindor House. Proffesor Granger, the new Transfiguration teacher. Professor Longbottom, Herbology teacher and Head of Hufflepuff house. We also have the teachers who've decided to stick around!" The headmistress said, and looked around to the long table all of the professors were sitting at."Professor Hagrid, Care of Magical Creatures, Professor Slughorn, head of Slytherin house and Potions teacher, and Professor Flitwick, Charms teacher and head of Ravenclaw. And there are many more that could not join us tonight. Have a wonderful dinner!" She continued, and with a flick of her wrist food appeared, and the children stuffed themselves to the brink.
"So, Jilian... Shes Bill and Fluer's daughter?" Asked Harry, scooping up a spoonful of pudding.
"Yes. She looks so much like a Weasley. Red hair, freckles...but she has Fluer's very veela like milky skin..." Hermione said, and laughed. Harry laughed too.
"So, you and Ron had a row the other day...are you two still together?" He asked her.
"Yes, we've actually been planning a wedding date... but it seems to me that hes been led astray..." Hermione said, looking down.
"No, by who?" Harry said, astounded.
"No one, probably. Just me worrying, I guess." She laughed nervously.
"Well, I hope that works out. I need to be going, you know I've got to clean out my room. Supossedly, the last teacher in there was attacked by a grindylow, and there are grindylow remains everywhere..." Harry started.
"I'll help, Harry. Might as well, you know. Nothing left to do here, the houses are going to their dormitories." she said, finishing her salad.
"Miss Granger... I mean Professor, may I have a word with you? We need to discuss your lesson plan..." Headmistress McGonagall said, and held Hermione back. She shot Harry a guilty look, sad and disappointed that she couldn't help out. Harry was glad, he was tempted to talk to her all night long, about anything.
"Dad! Dad, wait up!" Teddy said, and made his way through a crowd of Slytherins who looked upon him in utter hatred, trying to speak with his godfather.
"Teddy? What is it?" Harry asked, but noticed that he was leading a group of people, (including Jilian) over to him.
"They don't believe me! Everyone thinks I'm lying! I am your son, aren't I?" He asked, his hair now turning a bright vermillion.
"Yes, Teddy. You are my Godson. Still, my son though." Harry said, exasperated.
Teddy always did this to impress people, even though Harry insisted that if you have to do that for people to like you, they clearly were not friend material.
"Cool!" The group of children said in awe, one of them said "Yeah, hes the guy who defeated You-Know-Who!", and then they argued about whether it was that or Voldemort. Harry half expected to hear a crack, to have to battle death eaters again, but this was not the case. He smiled and turned around, when Teddy pulled on his cloak.
"Can I come with you?" He asked when the children left him, ordered to by a prefect.
"You heard the prefec-" Harry started.
"Please!?" He asked, and looked up at Harry with puppydog eyes. This always made Harry cave in, because it made him think of Tonks and Lupin.
"Alright." He said, and they both made their way to the classroom.
"So, dad, what are we learning about this year?" He asked, poking at a grindylow leg with his wand.
"Its a surprise." Harry said, quite aggitated. He always wanted to know about what they were going to do, no matter what it was about.
      "But-" Teddy started.
A prefect opened the door, it was a Gryffindor student, by the name of Gregory Flewitt.
"Ah, Teddy, I was looking for you! Having a chat with a Professor? You should have told me! Well, are you two done here?" He asked Harry. Harry nodded.
"Alright, c'mon Teddy! You'll be needing a good nights' sleep for tomarrow. Don't want to go missing the first Quidditch game of the year, now would you?" He asked Teddy, and Teddy shrugged, but went with him anyway. "Night Dad," Teddy said, and hugged his father before leaving for the dormitory.
"Night Teddy. Sweet Dreams." He said, and kissed his foredhead. Teddy, looking aggitated at the smudge on his forehead, frantically tried wiping it off before he left.
Harry only smiled, and then started picking up the grindylow remains when another person entered his classroom. He turned around. It was Hermione.
"Hey Harry, I'm here to help..." Hermione said, and then looked around at the almost spotless room.
"You're a bit late." Harry chuckled.
"I know. I'm so sorry, Harry. I hoped that Professor McGonagall would have very little to say... She told me a speech! I think I could've read Hogwarts, A History faster than that." She said. They both laughed again.
      Harry couldn't take it anymore.
"Look, Hermione-" He started, but the clock cut him off. It made 12 gong sounds.
"Harry, its already midnight!" She said, and hugged him.
  "Goodnight." He said, looking crestfallen.
"Night Harry! I'll see you tomarrow morning!" She exclaimed, and left.
Harry realized what he had almost done, almost said. He had almost asked Hermione out on a date. He was lucky he did not, lucky that the clock had struck 12, and he had been happy that Ron wasn't here. But that thought was attacked early that morning, struck down from the clouds, because a herd of old students had come to visit that morning, and two of them were Lavender Brown and Ronald Weasley.
