Vanellus vanellus, Ge: Kiebitz, Plattdüütsch: Kiewitt.

Apparently, this little beauty had broken its leg some time ago, but when I found it, it seemed perfectly fine, avidly searching for worms! I had the most amazing time photographing it, lying there on the grass while it came closer and closer, whithout any indication of feeling uncomfortable about my presence (which, of course, is how wildlife photography should be done). In fact, at some point the bird came so close that it wouldn't fit my (400mm-)lense's frame any more!
