Calidris alba, Ge: Sanderling. I actually made it into a calendar with this photo, haha. Still feeling so honoured!
Anyway, these little birds are called "keentied" ("no time") in Plattdüütsch (North German dialect, though it's more of an actual language, tbh) because of their usually restless behaviour. And as calm as the scene in this photo might seem, they only ever stayed like that for a few seconds, until another wave rolled in and they got wet feet. Then they would hurry away, only to return as soon as the wave startet retreating. Weird little birdies, but I love them!
