Description
My first 3-D model done in Maya: a red fox. It's seen here smoothed, with no textures or lighting or anything of that fancy sort.Related content

This is cool. I just started messing around in maya too. For your first model, this is really good.

lol, I'm running on lack of sleep and was recently using the program so I was going to rotate this and was all- oh wait |D; ...dur.
Anywho, that's really awesome! Looks great Have you been using Maya for long enough that it comes easy to you? Just wondering because we use it at my college. I'm slowly getting more used to it, but still find it a very complicated program as a newbie to 3D x:

lol! That's hilarious.
Thank you! I hadn't been using Maya long at all when I made this--but my Brother is a professional Visual Effects artist and knows it inside out and gave me a brief tutorial, and was also there to answer any questions I had over MSN during the process. Mostly I just fiddled around in the program until it made sense.

Nice model, very impressive for your first 3D work! I particually like the paws and the subtle detail on the legs
I model in 3DS Max, but have never tried modelling anything with fur...yet.

Thanks very much! Yeah, it was pretty fun to do (and tedious, at points). I do hope to eventually finish and texture/light the fox, too.
I used 3D Studio Max at school years ago, but find Maya much nicer to use! If you get the chance, you should try it out.

That's really good work for your first time. I wish I had a 3-D program, who do you use?

Okay, I'm dead honest now: this is the most incredible 3D art piece of an animal I've seen here. It's so realistic even if it's cartoonish.. if you know what I mean. The propotions and details are so great. The paws especially, they're beautiful. I really hope to see this finished someday! :3

Wow, thank you so much!! That's quite the compliment coming from you--you have a firm grasp of anatomy and I really enjoy your artwork. :3 I do plan on finishing this fox eventually... I still have a lot of tweaking to do before I move onto the next step, though. And those paws were a royal pain in the ass, so I'm glad they look good! I attempted to do the fox in a semi-realistic, stylized way, so yep, I know what you mean. Thanks again for your comment!

It's actually supposed to be a fox as it says in the description, but thank you. I do plan on finishing it eventually...
