Description
Before your very eyes, fooled from view, it seemed like an exact clone of something you knew very well. & then slowly, as time went by, the chance to see truth came upon your eyes, accept the possibility of knowledge; knowledge to see the truth. & now, it transpires before your very eyes, something so alien, something so completely different from what you thought you knew. A whole new experience, the truth is finally before you.--
This piece, & partly its inspiration, is relatively inspired by a story/song by ~BrimstoneVomit , he asked if I would like to make some album art for his songs, I heard one of his songs 'The Alien' which had a story, I quite liked the song & it went very well with the story, the story is the key inspiration to the piece; I've tried to picture the planet as it transpires from what seems like earth, to the strange alien planet, as described in the story, You can check out the song/story here: [link]

Created in Photoshop CS1, at a resolution of 3000×4500.

I completely understand u. even to crop on those sizes it takes infinity.....I hate it. and I have a laptop so it's even worse. I'm seriously thinking about a powerful desktop. 3gb ram ddr3 and some gforce and maybe flash drive or 2 hards in raid mode 
we'll se next year....now it all costs too much. compliments again on your work mate !

you obviously used an earth texture for the planet, but I like how crips and colourful looking you made it
I think the only thing I do not really like is the big amount of absolute white. some other, bright, tone would have been better I think, and even added to the soft look you were going for. perhaps you could also soften the edge of the planet a slight bit at places, and, but just for a tiny bit, the embossing on the lower side.

I'm so glad I put you on my watch. I logged on after a brief absence from dA, and noticed the message saying there was something from you. Little did I know I would spend the next ten minutes staring at my screen with my jaw on the floor. I really need to try that texture map thing.
Very astounding work, the planet is amazing. Perhaps some clouds would have added to the impact of it, but then again, they might have detracted from it given the nebulae. You never know until you try.

Well, the description may be easier to understand if i elaborate; See your vision is clouded with what is not really there, what you say may not be real, the description describes how the view of the planet is transpiring into truth, your eyes where fooled to think it was earth, & now you are seeing how it becomes something so completely different; something that is has always been, but has always been masked by your own vision.
