Part of an Art Trade with SSGuy , Who wanted me to draw their Butterfly characters Fern and Lief.

They gave me some creative freedom to adjust their designs a little as they were having a bit of a hard time figuring out some parts. This is my interpretation of the characters, with segmented bodies similar to the other bugs I've drawn, and different wing patterns to differentiate them a little more. This is only really a starting point though, so I'm curious to see how they'll look in the end.

From personal experience, characters designs change a lot over time. I've redesigned a lot of my old OCs recently to give them an updated look and make me more motivated to draw some of them again. Most of the time it's because they were made for a specific fandom that I'm no longer part of, and others are because I've changed the way I've drawn things, and want to change them up a little by using different techniques.
