I did a bit of research on her clothing, (should have done that before the creation) and it more resembles a Japanese style than a Chinese style, I found information on the fan she was holding and it also more resembles Japanese culture, as the Chinese fans usually fold out, the architecture is obviously Japanese, and thus the image does fit, thank you

I've always wondered....how exactly does one photomanipulate? Sure I can recreate from a reference piece but I have no idea how you manipulate a photo into looking like this gorgeous piece you have here.....if you have any general advice I'd love to hear it...
either way....this is amazing work and my favorite out of everything you've done!

Digital repainting...its not photomanip in the traditional sense, its more like a cross between painting and um something lol

well, dude, you should do more research.......i think.
the clothing is totally Chinese style.
and the fan, too. the "fold out" one is for man only.
oh........and the architecture, kind of Han Dynasty style, 2000 years ago........... Orz

not a dude first of all, second of all I found no reference that you are speaking off, for gods sake its fantasy art...so please don't come here, quote the artist and tell them to do more research, I did research and the chinese clothing I found looked nothing like this.
Please take into account its FANTASY its not REAL and its not meant to be REAL

The tree and the image is quite lovely. It's nice seeing more Asian women used in stocks. And I love it when they're done perfect. Whether or not the girl is Chinese or Japanese, it doesn't matter. To me, it doesn't even matter if the piece is more Chinese or Japanese. All that matters was that it flows together lovely. Perfect job!

My first Deviation Comment of 2006! 
First, there will be no nitpicks in this comment, simply because I couldn't find any!
You've really brought these elements together well here. The trees with the light streaming through, the arch with the fading from the light, the just right shadows of the arch and the figure (too dark would have belied the amount of ambient light you have). The effects of the mist on the distant objects is pretty much on the money, too.
Compositionally, I may have made the figure larger, or made the mountain in the background more distinct (which would probably have ruined the effect, but I think that's what I would have done - I didn't say it was right 
I love the way the color of the flowers and arch complement the colors in the gown (kimono?). And the way the grass offsets the colors and provides some balance.
The overall effect is tranquil, but also a little sad. The woman's expression adds a depth of poignancy to it that I find appealing.
