I did a bit of research on her clothing, (should have done that before the creation) and it more resembles a Japanese style than a Chinese style, I found information on the fan she was holding and it also more resembles Japanese culture, as the Chinese fans usually fold out, the architecture is obviously Japanese, and thus the image does fit, thank you **

May I ask where did you get the reference for the figure? ^_^
I've been searching for good examples of ancient Chinese costumes - such references are so rare...

very beautiful, I love the soft dreamy quality you gave this. It seems very much like how a cherry orchard in spring would feel like. The emotion and gentleness is really breathe taking.

very very well done indeed =]

but i think you've wrongly mismatched japanese and chinese cultures.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cosmosue In reply to sin4me [2005-12-20 17:48:18 +0000 UTC]

Well I did some research and the dress & fan are both more representative of Japanese culture, at least in the many sites I visited. The arch is obviously Japanese, so I think it has more Japanese overtones than Chinese.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sin4me In reply to cosmosue [2006-01-05 13:13:07 +0000 UTC]

i see i see, well japanese people used mostly chinese cultures back then, and that kind of dress represents chinese culture the most. lol mm just for suggestion, kimono represents the japanese culture more.
but your drawing is still amazing, although our ideas might differ sometimes >.<
*loves your drawing* =]
did you use photoshop for that?

Good lord. Beautiful. The way you handled her face is amazing. It barely looks like there are any variations on skin tone and yet it looks absolutely real. Any tips on getting that soft yet living look with what seems to be a limited palet for faces?
