Description
I couldn't sleep last night, so I decided I wanted to some fnaf.Fnaf is honestly what got me into drawing, and made me improve on thing like anatomy, character design, and other stuff such as that. I remember that I drew lots and LOTS of characters, the only ones I don't think I drew were the nightmare and phantom animatronics. I drew all the original ones, I LOVED drawing the withered ones, and the toy animatronics were very fun to draw! I also drew Baby once or twice.
I liked to create characters for it, and I remember I made at least six. Roxy the Raccoon, Cloudy The Sheep, Saturn the swan, two unnamed frogs, and one tiny fly animatronic. If I can find images of the frogs (I already found the drawing of the other three), perhaps I'll redesign them!
The segmented bodies made posing easier, and drawing fnaf is what made me discover that construction lines are a great tool for art! Fnaf is a great game, and it ignited a creative fire within me. The fandom may be cringey from time to time, but I still love the games with all my heart, I doubt I'd be drawing this good today if it weren't for all the let's plays and theories I watched on it.
Well, after that backstory, might as well talk about this drawing in particular. I loved how the line-art looked (I used a different brush, and it looks FANTASTIC, so I'll probably stick with that) and how the base colors I choose worked together (wanted to keep it on the same part of the color wheel, so used pink instead of red), but when time came for the shading, I was unsatisfied with it. Due to the MUCH skinnier limbs than my normal drawings, it was difficult to use my soft shading technique, but I didn't want to use the hard shading due to it being a bit too cartoon-ish for this one (not to mention, I only used soft shading for my original fnaf drawings, and since this was a homage, I didn't want to stray too far). Luckily the shine I added made balanced out the otherwise mediocre shading.
The background was fun, quick, and easy, but not the fade effect on the edges of the drawings (how it turns dark) and it took me three attempts to get it even remotely right.
Welp, that's it! Thanks for reading through that rather long description! I had a lot of fun drawing this.
