Description

Melody Bash is a bold, brazen mare that likes to take life by the scruff of the neck and run with it. A natural extrovert, she thrives in social environments and loves to spend her free time partying, clubbing, and dancing. When she’s not out and about, she prefers to stay at home eating junk food or watching television.

As a child, Melody was the middle child of 5 siblings; two older brothers and two younger sisters. Her outgoing nature is a direct result of this, as the need to compete for attention drilled it into her from a young age. Before her sisters were born, she mostly hung out with her older brothers and took on a slightly tomboyish nature as a result. Even after her sisters arrived, she never really got into more traditionally feminine things.

    When she was 8 years old, Melody’s school held a play. Always open for new opportunities to make friends, she signed up and auditioned the second she found out. As fate would have it, the play was a musical, and she was given a part with a prominent role in a major dance number. Initially hesitant, she powered through her misgivings, and, with the encouragement of friends and family, nailed her performance, earning her cutie mark as a result.

    Eventually, high school came, and Melody would begin to take an interest in others her age. She dated a couple of colts and briefly even another young mare from her theatre class at one point, but she suddenly ended things with each of them before they ever got serious. She would spend a concerning amount of time playing hooky and attending parties, and her grades suffered as a result.

    Time passed, and she would work her way into Manehattan University despite her subpar high school GPA and attendance record. There, she was assigned a room with Penny Inkwell, a reclusive bookworm and Melody’s antithesis in nearly every way. Taking pity on her roommate’s lack of sociability, Melody would repeatedly try to drag her along with her to frat parties, much to her dismay. Meanwhile, Melody’s grades naturally suffered, as her social life began to overtake everything else. Eventually, though, Penny intervened and the two came to an agreement. Penny helped Melody with her grades, and Melody helped Penny to break out of her shell, albeit far less aggressively. Come graduation, the two would continue to room together in downtown Manehattan.

    Currently, Melody teaches dance aerobics classes at the local gym in order to support her wild lifestyle. She loves her job because it allows her to do what she loves, but the relatively low wages mean that it often puts her in a tight spot financially and Penny often has to foot the brunt of the bills. She realizes that, eventually, she will need to get a better paying job, but she intends to ride her current situation out as long as she possibly can.
