This has to be the only picture of a naked woman on DA that I like… It’s not making boobs and butts the main part of it.

cassannder [2014-08-05 02:14:35 +0000 UTC]

oh look, and yet again "art" on this site somehow mysteriously translates into "naked young women." Funny how it works like that around 70% of the time on here.

Yet the "naked young men" in your favorites is completely fine, right? You're only offended by female nudity. Try growing up.

Funny how a lot of Breast Cancer Awareness photos show things like this too, huh? Not really. There's a difference between this and whoring it out on the camera. The person who took this picture, photographing this type of subject might be their dream. This isn't 'porn' or anything like that, nor does it show anything. It's just skin. Those Barbie dolls you probably played with when you were younger showed more breasts than this young lady.

well, look at this particular photo...the lighting casts these soft shadow gradients that define her form. shes natural in every way as the photographer captured an expression that borders on demure, aroused, and a vague wanting.
possibly, he hinted at this by framing her in wood, and in a cleverly placed reflection a marble like column with the same contrast as her skin. the backdrop an open city of windows provoking the voyeur? and a mirrors reflection or what? at least this naked woman yet, as you say not all nudes are artistic?

I agree that it is well taken but I think true beauty shows best when covered...there are many beautiful photos of the woman here and they are clothed. Yup your right they are not all artistic

Not a glitch, it just doesn't have a mature tag.
Just like it shouldn't of course, she's even less naked than the Venus of Botticelli

Just noticed that indeed, my mistake! But true, I don't necessarily think that this really needs a mature filter, as you said

I don't think classic nude photography needs mature tags at all, but it seems to be a big issue on this site...

Anyway your features are great, keep up the good work!

Darcybabs In reply to moonlight311 [2014-08-05 03:20:43 +0000 UTC]

I think the artist is trying to capture physical beauty. In this picture, the subject is herself - just herself - in her purest form; "pure" referring to natural, as if she is Eve in Eden. Here, the societal standards of beauty don't even stand. She's not showing anything off, she's simply, beautifully herself.

And though clothes are always nice things that we require for daily life, the human body is just a gorgeous thing to look at. I think the "real beauty" you refer to is her personality, and yes, that does show best when clothed; I agree~

I use the filter… I still see softcore porn that’s a trap for people to favorite and watch the ‘artists’.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nyx-Valentine In reply to KlutzyNinjaKitty [2014-08-05 02:40:23 +0000 UTC]

But...if you were using the filter, you would have seen that this was tagged mature content, which means you made a choice to view it, and then another choice to leave rude comments....huh.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

KlutzyNinjaKitty In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2014-08-05 03:23:12 +0000 UTC]

Nope, I tried to turn off mature content and it didn't let me (I'm 16, so it wont let me see it even if I wanted to) and I even waited a few minuets until I tried again. And my comment wasn't rude, it really is softcore porn. There's no looking past it. In all reality if you want people who are being 'rude' to stop then talk to DA and get them to make a section where things like pictures of naked women can exist and then the people who want to see it can see it. Same thing with inflation or any other fetish art, because when people like me want to see some good looking art. And then were bombarded with either naked or half naked boobs and butt that pervs decided was okay to just throw around boobs and say it's photography. In the end it doesn't make DA, the photographers, or other DA members look good when there's people like me who just want to share my art with others.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nyx-Valentine In reply to KlutzyNinjaKitty [2014-08-05 04:06:03 +0000 UTC]

It's really, really not pornographic in any way at all.  I encourage you to go find the groups, communities, and sections of the website that cater to your mindset, and stay away from the things you don't like.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KlutzyNinjaKitty In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2014-08-05 05:04:00 +0000 UTC]

But then I end up missing new artwork and artists because I just don't want to see the ones that are pandering to the pervs (there's some pictures like this where they aren't softcore porn but most are). This is the same thing as trying to avoid a popular pop song on the radio, it's incredibly difficult because when you want to listen to new songs by other artists when the people manning the radio station keep playing the same one over and over. You can just listen to the songs you like on a CD (typing in series in the search bar) but eventually they get old and then you want to experience something different, then you fall into the same problem of hearing that same replayed song.

Nyx-Valentine In reply to KlutzyNinjaKitty [2014-08-05 09:38:37 +0000 UTC]

Then here's a good idea....If you see something you don't like....don't look at it.  Click the back button, click the red x, do anything OTHER than leave rude comments just to prove how much you hate something.  What a waste of your time.

Normally I do just ignore things like this, but I was bored and looked at the comments. What I didn't like was you going around giving false information (Saying that you can click the mature content filter and these pictures would just go away. When the photographers don't put mature content filters because you can't technically see a girls nipple or something.) to fix a problem that could have been prevented if these pictures were on a different website. Maybe instagram or tumblr. The real reason why people who upload pictures of girls to drool at (Not this one, this one portrays the female beauty without showing off boobs or butts. I like that because its showing natural beauty too.) get 'rude comments' its because most people get tired of seeing 2-4 of these types of pictures each page. Eventually it does get frustrating and people are going to lash out. I bet the ones who say that these 'aren't art' did believe it was art but they were pushed to a limit. I think these pictures are just a passing fad though like those weird deviantart confession (I think that's what they were called. They were just blank backgrounds with text. Not like typography or anything.) things. But in the end I don't really want to continue this conversation anymore, its just gone on for too long. If you feel the need to reply then go right ahead.

KlutzyNinjaKitty In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2014-08-05 15:12:25 +0000 UTC]

Okay, you made me chuckle. Props to you. But Michelangelo’s art is different you know? It’s from a different time period and I’m pretty sure people aren’t getting off to his God Creating Adam piece because there’s a penis, some boobs, and some butts XD As of today’s times people aren’t used to seeing nudity unless they want to see it. That’s why breastfeeding mothers get so much crap. But once I was in a museum with some friends for a samurai exhibit and we decided to look at other exhibits like roman vases and statues, Egyptian stuff, Native American things, and things like that. But we were in a section with old painting probably around the days of Michelangelo (I don’t remember what time period the pieces were.) but there was one of a party with men and women dancing, but all of the guys were ‘excited’ and it was just… Weird… Granted my friends and I giggling like 10 year olds relieved the awkwardness but it was still there. I just thought I would share since you mentioned old paintings.

Nyx-Valentine In reply to KlutzyNinjaKitty [2014-08-05 16:28:50 +0000 UTC]

No, that's just your personal maturity level, to be uncomfortable with nudity. Nothing to do with the artistic validity of the piece itself. I recommend not spending so much time looking at things you hate.

Solarfox123 In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2014-08-05 02:48:43 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I don't think this one isn't tagged as mature, from what I can tell. Not that I mind, I think it's a lovely piece, and that it doesn't really need a filter, as nothing is showing, but I thought I could sort out some confusion.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nyx-Valentine In reply to Solarfox123 [2014-08-05 04:07:10 +0000 UTC]

You are correct, it actually is not tagged mature content.  (It doesn't hit any of the criteria necessary for it, and it's not in the nude gallery, which would auto tag).  That said, I still do not understand the need to look at something you don't like, and take the time to leave rude comments on it - I have so much better things to do!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Solarfox123 In reply to Nyx-Valentine [2014-08-05 04:16:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I didn't think it had any of the criteria.

I'm with you there; I definitely don't get why people take the time just to be mean/post rude comments about things. It's so simple to just click out of it and walk away, but it seems that the temptation to comment is just way too strong for some people.

kawaii-alpacasso In reply to MissSilverSonicBases [2014-08-05 01:21:45 +0000 UTC]

because some people, like me, find the human body to be art in itself and want gorgeous photoshoots like this to be more recognized//
plus people always get even more dirty when there's a nude male as a dd, plus i haven't seen that many artistic male nudes around dA so that's why they're mainly female i guess
i hope i didn't sound rude, i didn't mean to ;n;
