"Hey, Sonic?" Link said.
"Yes?" Sonic responded.
Link looked down at Sonic and said, "I... I'm sorry I left you behind. Not having you with me made me realize that... I can't do this quest alone."
"Yeah," Sonic said. "And when I was standing around the lake, I realized that... exploring this world isn't half as exciting without exploring it with you."
Link looked at Sonic. "Maybe Navi was right," he said. "We need to work together if we want to complete this quest. We need each other. From now on, we're not just acquaintances anymore." He held out his hand toward Sonic. "Friends?"
Sonic looked up to Link and held up his hand as well. They shook hands and said, "Friends."
