As he dug his claws deeper into Guru's flesh the beast let out a deafening roar of rage, thrashing his body from side to side. Desperately Tungsten tried to hold on but with little success. He felt his claws losing their grip and moments later was completely dislodged. Letting out an alarmed yelp he felt himself go soaring through the air before landing on his side with a loud thud. As the air rushed out of his lungs for the second time that day he felt the world spinning around him. Gasping he tried to regain steady breathing, momentarily focusing on anything else. The sounds of the battle were distant as he thought of his cubs. What would become of them if he didn't return home? Sure, someone else in the pack could probably care for them, but it was not the same as being cared for by their father. He had to finish this fight and make it home to them.
As he finally regained control of his breathing the silkie toa slowly pushed himself up off the ground. Looking around, he realized he lost all sight of the red toa he had previously paired up with. For a moment he debated searching for him again as two sets of claws seemed better than one, but he knew with the amount of bodies fighting around him that would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. He would be wasting valuable time he could be spending fighting. Giving a small nod to no one in particular, Tungsten decided it was best to continue his battle solo.
Turning back toward Guru, he watched as more tentacles burst from the ground, knocking helpless ketucari of their feet, some even being wrapped up and hoisted into the air. He had to do something to stop it...but what? Well, Guru would have a much harder time hiding his tentacles if the ground was broken, right? Well, it was certainly worth a try.
Racing toward the closest field of flailing tentacles, he paused just outside their reach. Standing tall for a moment, his eyes glowed with faint green light as he focused his energy on the ground around them. With a roar the ground began to crack, starting at his front feet and branching off. He watched as one by one the tentacles disappeared back beneath the soil. As the last one disappeared beneath the mass of broken earth, Tungsten heard an enraged cry come from behind as Guru realized what was happening.
Quickly turning around, he just barely managed to get a shield up as a blast of sand came cascading toward him. He watched as it ricocheted off the surface which only seemed to make Guru even angrier. Suddenly the sand stopped just as quickly as it started and, confused, Tungsten glanced from side to side, trying to figure out what the guardian's next move was going to be.
The ground beneath his feet began to crumble and with an alarmed cry he felt himself being lifted from the ground as a tentacle burst forth beneath him. Losing all focus, his force field broke and Tungsten found himself thrashing from side to side for a moment as he desperately tried to break free. This of course only caused Guru to tighten his grip more, making it increasingly hard for the white toa to breathe. He had to do something quick or the beast was going to squeeze the life right out of him. Magic wasn't going to work, at least not when he couldn't even see what was happening around him. He would have to resort to something more physical.
Twisting his body in a way he never knew he could , he sunk the claws of one front deep into the flesh, trying to ignore the odd popping feeling they made as they broke the surface. Guru let out a grunt but the tentacle did not loosen its grip. He would have to do more damage to it. Sinking his claws in deeper, he raked them through the flesh as best he could given his awkward position. The grip loosened slightly but still not enough for him to break free. In one last desperate effort to free himself he dipped his head down, sinking his teeth deep into the tentacle, trying to ignore the pungent taste that filled his mouth. This seemed to be enough as he felt the grasp around his chest instantly release. Letting go he twisted around midair so he would at least land on his feet instead of awkwardly on his side again.
A small cloud of dust puffed up as he landed, turning to look over his shoulder at Guru only to find the guardian's gaze locked onto him. Well, this wasn't good. Wincing as another angry cry broke through the air he saw the purple beast springing toward him. Crap, he needed to move fast. Magic....quickly focusing his energy, he managed to bend gravity just in time to dash out of the guardian's grasp. As he sprinted away he kicked up his own sand cloud, aiming it at what he could only assume was Guru's eyes. Did the guardian even have eyes? He would have to ponder that later. For now he just needed to focus on doing some damage while keeping himself alive.
His sand cloud seemed to serve its purpose. Glancing over his shoulder again he saw Guru stop his pursuit, batting at his face with his big, meaty hands. Well, at least Tungsten had managed to make him lose interest. Turning back toward the beast, he knew he had one last attempt before Guru finally had enough and tried to eat him. Might as well make his efforts worth it, right?
Sucking in another deep breath, the silkie toa again bent gravity, dashing toward guru with increasing speed. Swerving from side to side, he narrowly avoided tentacles as they burst from the ground. He had learned the beast's tricks but knew that it most likely was learning his as well and soon he would be all out of ideas. As sand began to swirl again he quickly put up a force field so he could at least see where he was going. As his approach grew closer still he braced himself before throwing his weight at guru's face once more. This time he sank his claws in deep, before rapidly raking them through the flesh, trying to cause as much damage as he could. Guru let out an enormous cry, reaching up with one massive hand and quickly plucking Tungsten off like a flea, tossing him aside. Twisting around, the toa landed just in time to see a new group of ketucari breaking through the line of tentacles and heading for the main body. At least his efforts seemed to help. Casting one last look at the raging battle, he hoped the tables were at least turned in their favor. Taking a deep breath he dashed off, knowing he needed to return home to his children.
