What about the dominions, protectorates, mandates, colonies, puppet states, vassal states, client states and tributary states?

Colonies get the main color, unless they’re company-run, then they get the darkest
Protectorates (such as Trucial States and French Tunisia) get the lighter autonomous color
Mandates could be either main color (French Cameroon) or autonomous color (British Iraq) depending on how they’re governed. Basically treat them the same as colonies/protectorates, maybe with an optional LON/UN outline or whatever international group is organizing the mandate
Puppets, vassals, clients, and tributaries all get an outline in the dominant nation’s main color as shown in the map key
(For example, Manchukuo gets its own color, but with an outline in the color of Imperial Japan)
However, if your map type would make an outline impractical, you could alternately use one of the dominant country’s lighter or darker shades, whichever you prefer.

And the British dominions (e.g., Canada, Australia, New Zealand)?
And the states in personal union?

the British dominions would be treated like satellite states
as for personal unions... we're still trying to figure out how to show that

Which shade do you prefer?

For British dominions, I would use the darker color.

1. Was the British Raj a British colony? Because it appears as a signatory country in the Treaty of Versailles.
2. Was the Kingdom of Egypt independent from the United Kingdom from 1922 to 1952?
3. Afghanistan, Nepal and Bhutan have been British protectorates?

What the heck is "Ross from "Friends" but with a gun" is exactly? A race of Ross who likes guns? Is this a meme or something?

It's true perfection, a shade we all need in our palettes.

Oh my god.
This is amazing.
Just one little obscure thing that could be added.
There's no Socialist Australian Successor state in South America colour. How am I supposed to represent Nueva Australia without it?
10/10 Colour Scheme, btw.

Iberian Union is already in the scheme, it is an alt. of Extremadura, which is the second to last blueish colour in the Iberia section.
Likewise Kalmar Union is an alt. of Denmark

I don't think I'll ever have a chance to use this but impressive work!
May I suggest adding Cordova (Córdoba) somewhere, maybe within the same color of the Caliphate? Since Jaén has been included, Cordova was a kingdom of the Iberian peninsula too before the current provinces were established.

Hey stage7,
ML8991 the adder here , Córdoba is in
,
It's with Andalusia/ Islamic Spain/Al-Andalus, which is to be found just below Murica and Extremadura (Murica, mixed with Carthaginian Spain is a pale olive green, and Extremadura, mixed with Turdetani/Iberian Union is a blue turquoise colour)
Hope this helps,
Best wishes and enjoy the scheme

It's OK for me, that was just a historic note because the Caliphate and the Kingdom of Cordova were different entities two centuries apart, the later being one of the four kingdoms of Andalusia until it was abolished in 1833
Best wishes to you too, and thank you for including La Mancha

Sorry for the delay to replying stage, was hard for me to figure out a way to write the answer for this.
Agreed that they are two different entities, but given they share the same name, and didn't overlap, it can be applied to both.
If they did co-exist, oops, perhaps something to add on the third run-through
Best wishes,
From ML8991
