I did this awhile ago out of boredom (while not playing minecraft of course), both as a fan project and as a challenge to see how to best redesign the website. Part of my thought process was that basically, one of minecraft's key appeal lay in the creation of your own structures, which is why I designed it so the background could be swapped around / faded every once in awhile. That was fun though
NOTE: This is not an official redesign, it is just a personal project (read: for fun). All assets, contents and the minecraft symbol/name remain property of Notch and Mojang.

Very pretty design! Have you considered presenting it to Mojang? I believe this is actually better than the real site, it'd be interesting to see if they would accept it, plus you can get some money while you're at it

A really great and simple design. The only thing i'd change would be to make the top image a gameplay screenshot instead of being a render. Maybe even make it a rotating image.

I'm a huge fan of Minecraft and I'm also an amateur web designer, so I really liked this one! I am especially liking the soft tones, use of negative space, and the colors.
Also, where do you get your textures/seamless(?) patterns for the content body? I'm always having a hard time finding photorealistic textures that don't cost an arm and leg.
