"We still don't know if they're going to be echidnas or bats. Or echidnas with ears, or bats without ears!" She said quickly, almost unable to be understood. Knuckles took Rouge's hand and they sat on a bench.
"Everything will be alright. You're strong, meaning they're strong." he said to cheer her up, even though he was worried himself. If they were echidnas, there would be difficulty during birth for two reasons. One being the claws, and two they're echidnas and should hatch from an egg rather than live birth. Their best bet is bats; that way it would be how each bat's body is built for birth. If they were full on hybrids, all hope would be lost. If they were mainly bat and slightly echidna, there's still a lot of hope. The only problem would be slight hearing defects as bats and echidna's ears are completely different. Bats have the sonar ears while echidna's have slits on the sides of their head like a bird.
"I hope every goes okay" Rouge finally said.

Hope you like the picture and small story. I'm not very good at this kind of stuff, but this explains what their minds were going through during the pregnancy. And obviously the defect affected someone. (and Pai is just excited to be the "big brother" soon )
