This artwork is first published in my 2021 Gilles x Jeanne doujin, "Gilles et Jeanne a la Carte".

I always imagine the AUs where Gilles de Rais and Jeanne d'Arc are married couple and Sieg is their adopted son. Their biological daughter's name is Marie de Rais. (References from Gilles's real daughter in history) They are a happy family.

((I'm sorry for not shipping Jeanne and Sieg romantically. But I just can't.))

My headcanon about (saber) Gilles and (ruler) Jeanne's family:
-Jeanne is a family leader. Gilles and the kids always trust her decisions. Though she tries supporting her husband and children's dreams as much as she can.
-When Jeanne miscarriaged their first child, she was so depressed. Gilles and her sister(Jalter) helped her get through it. They adopted 2 months old Sieg after attend his parents' funeral. Since Siegfried and Kreimhild are their friends. She knew she cannot replace Sieg's real parents, nor Sieg can replace her unborn child. However, she is happy to have the boy.
-When Sieg was 6, Jeanne gave birth to Gilles's daughter, Marie.
-Sieg is very protective with his little sister and his adoptive mother.
-Sieg doesn't give Gilles much respect. He even calls his adoptive father "Old Man". However, Sieg usually feels down when Gilles gives Marie more attention. He is a quiet yet stubborn boy.
-Gilles loves to spoil his kids. If Jeanne doesn't stop him, he will buy every toy he thinks Sieg and Marie would like.
-Even if Gilles doesn't have much of self-confident and can be dramatic all the time, he is the best bed time storyteller. He usually read both Sieg and Marie to sleep.
-Jeanne prepares most of the food, since Gilles is terrible at cooking.
-Gilles does all heavy chores; cleaning the bathroom, washing the car, gardening and stuffs. He hates to see Jeanne working on the weekend. His saint deserves a break.
-If they aren't too busy, they always go to the church on Sunday morning. However, Jeanne always teaches her children to respect other's beliefs and choices.
