Thank you very much. I love water photography too... it's probably the one thing I've attempted photographing the most... and I say attempted cause I'm still working on perfecting my techniques

You're welcome. The reason I like photographs like this so much is that it's something that you know is real, but never get to see usually.

very trippy. i'd sculpted a simple splash in stone and got a dd for it, but this one i don't think can be sculpted, not in stone anyway. excellent shot!

Creative--Dragon In reply to SculptorBoris [2011-11-24 00:39:12 +0000 UTC]

cool... that's be hard to sculpt a drop in stone... I don't even know how one would begin to sculpt this beast in stone... lol but you're more then welcome to try

SculptorBoris In reply to Creative--Dragon [2011-11-24 02:58:34 +0000 UTC]

its impossible to do in stone - that was my point

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Creative--Dragon In reply to SculptorBoris [2011-11-24 20:57:56 +0000 UTC]

not if you had a laser scalpel or a phaser from the Enterprise hehehe

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SculptorBoris In reply to Creative--Dragon [2011-11-24 22:04:32 +0000 UTC]

laser "scalpel" is incapable of cutting inside crevices that are not visible. as the piece rotates inside the machine, the laser has to have "direct line of sight", because laser is a type of light and cannot bend. so, if something obstructs the line of sight as the piece rotates, you would have to finish it manually once the laser part is done. to produce a droplet inside a bubble, you would have to carve them separately (even with the best lasers out there) and then combine them into one piece. i dare you find anyone who will be able to do this out of one contiguous piece of stone. perhaps sometime in the future when the robotic arm holding the laser will be able to get inside, it will then be possible, otherwise nope. also, if you know how the actual computer modeling is done before any lasers can be applied, you will again run into the problem of direct line of sight. lasers aren't omnipotent, my friend.

lol, I didn't intend for you to take my comment seriously, but apparently you did... I was only joking around, which is why I threw the Star Trek reference in there

SculptorBoris In reply to Creative--Dragon [2011-11-25 13:57:31 +0000 UTC]

Lol, sorry- not a star trek fan, i thought you were referring to an actual company producing laser equip. never mind then, no harm no faul. beautiful shot still.

Creative--Dragon In reply to Keiimiko [2011-11-24 00:36:53 +0000 UTC]

Tutorial coming soon... meant to do it last weekend, just haven't had time...
anyhow, the bubble is blown onto the water then the drops are dropped through the bubble.. you can see in this image a small warp in the bubble where the drop penetrated it...
