Description
It had been four days since my sister Eden had gone missing. My father George had not given up the slightest in searching for her, and my mother Elizabeth wouldn’t come out of her bed room and dare to find out the truth about her daughter. My mother would often call me in to her room, resisting the urge to ask about Eden. She hadn’t eaten since she went missing, and I doubt she’s even slept. “Dawn honey, have you gotten all of your school work done?” Yes, I replied in a crestfallen voice. I knew my mother was clinging to any bit of hope she could think upon. But four days in the cold winter night with lascivious men stalking the midnight streets, terrorizing the innocent would be too much for a nine year old girl to fight off. In the back of my mind I knew the unthinkable had most likely become reality. “Eden is such a kind girl.” My mother suddenly stated. “I am sure your father will bring your sister home soon, Dawn.” I nodded, for I would not want to hinder my mother’s hope in any way. “We are having dinner with Mr. Morrison tonight, he is the head police officer searching for Eden, and I want you to be on your best behavior.” I nodded again, however, I felt like I was staring into a void of what my mother once was. The twinkle in her eyes had been lost; her smile had been abandoned in favor of an emotionless frown. My sister was not the only soul missing from this domain. It was a quarter till 7, my father, mother and I were driving our 1995 Mercedes e320 to the Morrison home for dinner, we were all very famished. We made our way into a gated community called Emerald Bay. Only the rich got to live here and Mr. Morrison was no exception. His house was magnificent. Much greater than our humble four room home. We approached the Morrison’s home and my father knocked three times. Mrs. Morrison greeted us with a welcoming smile and open arms. It was good for us to have fun tonight. My father, George has been so stressed and worried lately, even though he would rather not admit it, so he would not lose hope himself. “My husband has prepared steak, the neighbors say it’s the best they have ever had and I am no exception!” Said Mrs. Morrison with an affable smile. But most of all, I need this. The past few days had been the worst they have ever been in my life. I lied when I told my mother I was doing well in school, in fact I have just been ditching class and having mental break downs in the bath room. I even took up smoking which only nulled the pain long enough for me to walk right back into class, covering my teary eyed face wanting to go straight back into the bathroom and cry my eyes out all over again. This sudden positivity had made me forget my sister, even if it was only for a moment.
Mrs. Morrison guided us to a table where we all sat down to eat. I adjusted my silver ware and put the fabric cloth in my lap. I wanted to be polite as possible. Mr. Morrison then came in with his son, Miles Morrison, who was only 5 years old. Miles then timidly waved and hid behind his father. “He is so cute.” My mother said softly. “He has the same expression Eden did when she was that age.” Mr. Morrison looked down at Miles, and back at Elizabeth. Do not worry Mrs. Smith, I will find Eden and bring her back to you. I promise. My mother started tearing up and nodded as Mrs. Morrison came to her assistance. Finally, it was time to eat. Mr. Morrison brought a huge plate of cooked steak; it both looked and smelled extraordinary. Mr. Morrison stood up and declared “this meal is dedicated to the young girl Eden who is only nine years old. May she be safe and happy and be brought back into our lives soon. For Eden.” “For Eden.” Everyone said holding up the glasses of wine (or water for Miles and I) in toast for my sister. Mrs. Morrison cut the still sizzling steak and put three slices on my plate. I looked over at my mother and father, who were both smiling out of the thought of Mr. Morrison bringing little Eden home. “Killed and cooked it myself.” Said Mr. Morrison proudly. “You hunt? Why have you never told me this Andrew? I’d love to go hunting with you sometime.” Said George, who was a proud hunter himself. Mr. Morrison paused, and then looked back at my father. “Hunting is something I do alone; it’s really my only chance to get any freedom in my life.” Mrs. Morrison rolls her eyes and continues eating.” “I can respect that.” George said in a disappointed manner. “This steak is amazing as always, Dad!” Said young Miles. But to be honest, I really didn’t like the steak. It tasted somewhat like pork, but I bit more harsh. The taste is almost indescribable. My mother agreed that the steak was strange. My father could tell I didn’t like the food, neither did he however, he gave me a stern look of “you have to eat it or that would be rude” look. So, I slowly nibbled and ate all three slices. I soon noticed Mr. Morrison staring at me often, with almost lustful eyes. To a 14 year old girl this was very unsettling. Mr. Morrison continued to stare at me even after dinner. Often commenting to my parents that I was “a very pretty young girl” and “you should be proud” sort of comments. At this point I felt very uncomfortable, and would have gone to my little sister to get away from him. But, all this just made me miss Eden even more. I finally convinced my parents to leave. And we thanked the Morrison’s, and said good night.
When I got home, I had a mental break down. I cried into my pillow for about 40 minutes, and then started to smoke. My mother startled me and shouted “We are off to go buy some grocery’s be back soon darling.” This made me happy to see my parents happier; I only wish I could be as hopeful as them. I finished the cigarette, and decided I should get some rest. I started brushing my teeth, I hated the taste of tooth paste and smoke but at least it got rid of the taste of the Morrison’s steak. I walked into my room, and stared in both disbelief and horror. A man was standing right outside my window holding a butchers knife, wearing the face of my dead sister Eden. I instantly went into shock my arms and legs began to tremble and I gaged on my own screams. He looked at me with his blue cold eyes lustfully and I instantly knew who this man was. He started hitting the butcher’s knife against my window, leaving a small crack. I bolted to another room, thinking he may be running to the front door to kill me. I ran to my parent’s room and locked the door. I grabbed the phone and called 911. However, the first thing that was rushing through my head, Beyond the fear of being killed, was seeing my sisters face cut off and worn as a mask on some psycho. Eden was gone forever now. “Hello this is 911 what is your emergency.” I told the woman that a man was trying to break into my house, and most likely kill me. However, at this point I was crying so much I wasn’t understandable. “I know who this man is.” I struggled to say. “Just tell me your address and I will have the police protect you honey.” The woman said who seemed just as worried as I was. I heard someone enter the room, and I muted the phone immediately. And the quite pitter patter of “I am going to kill you” softly came out of a killers mouth just breaths away from me. He circled the room for a minute, still muttering “I am going to kill you.” Somewhere louder than others, as if he twitched while he was saying it. Suddenly, the door closed. “He must have left” I told myself. I un-muted the phone, and said “The man who Is going to kill me is named Andrew-“I was stopped by the face stealing psycho kicked down the door. He picked me up by my throat and began to beat me and then threw me against the wall. He kicked me in the stomach and the face of my dead sister fell onto mine. I finally let out a scream of bloody murder. And with one more punch, the man knocked me out.
I woke up in a cold dungeon, only creatable by the hands of the unholy. This place, is where evil harbors. This is the place where Eden had her last breath. Mr. Morrison walked up to me, eating a slice of his steak, looking at me lustfully. “Dawn, you are such a beautiful girl. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, do you see why I had to have you for myself now, Dawn.” “How the hell are you going to do that if you kill me you idiot” I screamed at him. “and why the hell would you kill Eden.” “Because, I love her as well.” Said Mr. Morrison.” You see, I know the truth, the only way to show god that I truly love you. I must do to you what I did to little Eden.” “What are you trying to say?” I screamed bewilderedly. “I followed you and Eden home every day after school and I dreamed about you both every night. Your black curly hair and green eyes are divine. And in due time you both will realize you love me too, you can’t change fate Dawn. However, the only way to do that is to take the extra step.” Mr. Morrison started walking closer to me taking out his butcher’s knife. “Get the hell away from me. Let me go!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. “and how would Eden love you? She is dead! You killed her! And now, you are going to kill me” I cried. “Shut the hell up, Dawn” screamed back Andrew. Andrew became enraged and took out a human leg that looked as if it had been cooked and took a giant bite out of it; he rubbed his face into it, as if he was making out with the human limb. And then that’s when I realized, what he had done. Both my legs had been cut off. The meat at the Morrison’s, the meat he is eating now and the meat now settled in my gut. Is the flesh of Eden and I. “I can definitely tell you two are sisters Dawn.” Said Andrew Morrison with a devilish smile with my blood dripping out of his mouth. “Yes, you two taste quite similar. Do you see now, Dawn? Eden is part of us. This is the only true way to express love. Emotions, kissing, sex. All are inadequate to compare to cannibalism.” I looked at him with horror as he fell to his knees splashing my blood everywhere. “Soon we will be one, Dawn. You will live on inside me. I will feed you to others so you can live on in them as well. Is that not true love, Dawn?” He lathered my blood all over himself and put the face of Eden over his own and made a prayer to god to watch him witness what Andrew believed as the ultimate step to love. I started screaming for help trying to push him away, but, he had already slit my throat.
The very next day.
“Damn it!” shouted a frustrated police officer. “What’s wrong?” said Andrew Morrison as he walked into the room where evidence and papers were spread all over the room. “These missing girl cases won’t stop. There is a real pervert out there, I can tell you that much. What really scares me is my little girl Sophia being taken by this man. She is only 12, and this pervert goes for girls ages 15 and down.” Andrew can’t help but smile, and then looked over to the frustrated police officer and said “John, I never knew you had a daughter. Why don’t you, come over to dinner sometime, I just went hunting the other night and it wouldn’t take me long to cook it. Why, the Smiths came over just the other night and loved it. Our wives can talk and our kids could play, hell we could talk about the case together if you are really so paranoid.” John smiles and says in a calmer voice “Yeah id like that, Andrew.” “Then it’s settled.” Andrew smiled an innocent smile and walked out the police station. The moon was shining brightly that night. Andrew walked over to his trunk, looked around then opened it up. Then quickly stuffed something under his shirt and hustled to close the trunk and get to the driver’s seat. He took the face of Dawn Smith from under his shirt, and stared at it for a moment. Then began to kiss the face, and then lick it all over. Andrew was obsessed with the face of the missing girl which he had cut off himself. He put on the face, and truly believed he was now Dawn Smith. He then drove off to watch the pretty young girls walk home.
