Description
creatureundertaker.deviantart.…I made a ear tutorial before, but I tried getting more pictures of the ear flick, the small cartilage on the inner front ear and how to deal with holes.
look at the anatomy of the animal you are turning the ears and see just how it shaped will help you.
the principle is the same, but the ear shape is different between like a fox and a deer or horse.
start with removing any meat from your ear butt from after skinning and feel where the back of the ear and cartliage meets at the butt of the ear, there should be that faint white line to help guide you.
work on the middle of the ear for abit, until you will start to need to turn it inside out, I like working with the ear part closes to the center of the head.
there will be a thin cartliage that helps holds it up within canines and felines, it will be ok to cut through that, you will need to remove it all the way to the ear butt as well, without cutting the actual ear.
keep turning you can use your thumb to gently yet still forcefully to open up the ear more in the center.
to the ear flap, there will be 2 different section for canine and felines just open it up abit to where you can finish it once it is tanned.
if you happen to get a hole, move around the skin on each side and slowly work on going around and seeing which hole is on the back of the ear or the cartliage and just slowly work on getting the blad under it so you can keep on.
you will want to leave about a CM or the length of a smidge as to not get your ear to the very edge, if you are sending off to the tannery, more than likely it will be blowed out.
use your fingers and thumb to slowly push and see where you still need to turn, you can use a blunt long object when you get closer to the tip and cant exactly reach to see just where you need to turn on the ears .
