Was his arm broken? He tried to move it but nothing happened. Adrenalin kept him from feeling the pain, but his arm was definitely broken as could be seen by the caved in steel shield. Perhaps his shoulder was dislocated as well judging by the similarly dented pauldron.

It didn’t matter now though. The only thing that mattered was living through this nightmare. Ned Stark squares off with his opponent, a monstrous beast only heard of in stories. It was easily two men tall and broader than any man he had every witnessed. It’s skin was dark red with massive steely black plates being worn as armor. Yellowed teeth bared at him while the beast’s orange eyes stared him down. It seemed to be smiling at him as it’s tree trunk arms raised its massive clever like sword already coated in blood.

Robert would have loved fighting such a beast. At the moment though he was fighting somewhere else on the field of battle. The Trident was a mess of gore and bodies. Dark creatures from the lands of Mordor clashed with men from all over the seven kingdoms. Westerlanders, Dornishmen, Riverlanders, Reachmen, Storm Landers, Men of the Vale, and even his own kin the Northmen. Somewhere out there Robert was searching for his rival Rhaegar, to lend him aid despite their differences. None of that mattered now at least not for Ned.

All that mattered was to bear his teeth and brace for the coming doom, with a Northern defiance.
