Sharon was a simple junior student when she was forced into a dramatic change in her life when the group ULTIMATUM began to attack the current Cap's acquaintances and family. She and her childhood friend Roman Wisdom were dragged into the campaign to liberate Eden Island from the Clutches of ULTIMATUM who were really Neo-HYDRA in disguise. Roman suggested that he'd use his powers to enhance Sharon's by turning himself into Bio-energy (Ki) and let it be fused with Sharon's Ki. The result was that she grew up from a toddler to a teenage-looking woman with the same strength of Captain America. Sharon developed a deep respect for Isaiah Bradley when she met him. He in turn was indeed happy that they would consider a non-white person as a Captain America, hence he gave Sharon his shield. She can only carry it when fused with Roman Wisdom as Redeemer Prime.
