The Mad Hatter and Alice, the woman he loves.And also the one who caused his insanity. Yay!
Just a cute image in my brain, maybe something they could've done when Hatter was trying to cheer her up. You know, a little roleplaying or something *laughs*.
Sometimes I wonder if he ever still thinks about her. But maybe I shouldn't.
ANYWAY, I really felt like coloring something.

I hate Alice! How could she reject him? He's so sweet!
I'm sure he does think of her, but NOT fondly. In that one episode where the villians put batman on trial, doesn't the dialogue go something like:
Tetch: Batman forced me to do it. I had no choice.
Van Doorn: You could have respected her jugment and left her alone.
Tetch: I'D HAVE KILLED HER FIRST! oops.
*Walks up to the judge (the Joker)*

It was almost the last thing he did. I mean, since the TAS and TNBA stuff ended about 96-ish, he did a few things like that. A couple'o movies, and stuff. But A Bug's Life was the very last thing he did before he passed away.

*SQUEE* I adore Jervis/Alice! 8D Very awesome sketch and coloring! And this is the pairing that got me into Hatter/Alice.
I was into Batman:TAS RP group and we had a Jervis fan that was borderline insane. She believed Jervis spoke to her in her mind.

In the end of the episode "Mad as A Hatter", I actual tear up every time Jervis says, "Would not, could not. Would not. Could not...Could not join the dance." Just all sadness coming from his voice...*sniffles*
Anyway, I love your pic! I can feel really feel his love for Alice coming from it.

Dooood, that episode made me SAD. And also made me love Jervis. His voice actor was so good, I wish he was still alive. *laughs*
But yes, that last quote from Alice in Wonderland just durn broke my heart. I didn't care if he went mad in the last part of the episode, just seeing that look of despair when he sees Alice in Bill's arms. And to make it worse, she even looked up at him and then turned back to Bill, which is like "FINAL REJECTION."
...I still think he thinks about her. I will MAKE him still think about her. *pouts*

That episode is by far one of the most disturbingly cute ones in the series (not to mention being home to my all time favorite rendition of the Batman Mad Hatter). Very cute pic.

What I found interesting was the concept of the Hatter being in love with Alice. He'd been in the comic books for a long time, and this portrayal of him was different from all the rest, and a lot more interesting.

Actually, the Alice/Hatter thing originated with the Caroll book itself, because the girl the man wrote the book for, Alice Liddell--who is the Alice in the story--wound up the subject of lolicon by accident and since the whole dream sequence of Wonderland itself seems like a drug trip and back in those days, it was not uncommon to see people being together despite a large age gap, there ya go then.

Well, I was actually talking in terms of the batman villain, whose main motivation was switching and never set--at one moment he was a man obsessed with hats, at another a pedophile obsessed with little girls. I was more interested in the fact that the hatter as portrayed in the animated Batman series had a more clear-cut and interesting motivation regarding backstory than his earlier incarnations.
