“oh lookie! A duskhopper! I wonder if it’ll be my friend!” thought Zev.

Today was a day just like any other; Spiral was off at her friends house, Niroco had just got finished playing warp and seek with Zev, and had gone out to make them some lunch.

“Don’t fly away! I won’t hurt you!” little zev cried out to the duskhopper.
A shrill yell came from upstairs in the house. It was mom. She and dad had been getting in a lot of arguments lately.

“I wonder if this one has to do with daddy never being home anymore… or maybe those kids that he always is with when he’s gone for the weekend…” Zev thought.
He headed into the house. Niroco had always told him not to be around mom and dad when they were arguing, it would only make things worse, but Zev started to crawl up the stairs anyway. He noticed the yelling had become louder and more desperate and decided it would be best to not be seen if he wanted to find out what was going on.

There was one last half-stifled scream, and the yelling had stopped. Zev felt his stomach sink. He was right outside the door, and he started to hear footsteps towards him. Before he knew what happened he was lifted in the air and told to shush. Zev was happy to be in Niroco’s arms, which at this time was his only comfort.
The footsteps from behind the door grew louder, and Niroco dragged Zev to a dark corner behind a wall.
The Nonacus (the demon world Sun) had faded behind the horizon, and the light from the cracked door was the only thing illuminating the room. As the light grew larger, and the shadows grew closer and closer to their feet, the footsteps grew sharper, and there wash a slight, damp, squish at the end of every step. Their father continued down the hall, and with one last look down the hall, his eyes shining a dim orange light, and a jagged smile creeping across his face, he turned the corner and headed towards the front door.
Zev, though terrified, wriggled out of Niroco’s arms and crawled as fast as his trembling arms and legs could carry him into the room of the last scream. Niroco, still sitting, waited to hear the door to the house close… waiting… waiting…*kachunk*
He rushed into the room after Zev, steeling himself for whatever was to be found.
“Mommy?”
“M-m-mom?” Niroco whispered before falling on his knees. He picked small crying Zev and silently wept…

This took me forever
like a week. But it was worth it
It's so sad But baby ZEV is too cute X3 it just makes the sad go away in my opinion.
yeah, you have to read to understand what's happening in the picture.

It looks like we all still don't get a good glimpse of ZEV's dad, which I now call Idris.
