History: Rainpaw was born during a rainstorm, away from the clans. Due to the storm, and the cold, and being weak from giving birth, her mother became sick. Rainkit and Fawnkit became sick as well. Asterclaw and Ottertail tried their best to hurry and find their way back to the clans so they could get help for the kits. Ottertail became weaker and weaker until she couldn't go any further, so she urged Asterclaw to go on without her. Despite wanting to stay with Ottertail, Asterclaw reluctantly agreed and hurried on the journey to save the kittens.
He found his way back to Sharp Clan where he brought the dying kittens to the medicine cat, Flamepelt. Rainkit was able to recover within a few days. Fawnkit was not so lucky, dying a few hours after being brought to the medicine cat.
Seeing as Fawnkit looked exactly like Ottertail, Asterclaw began to worry, wondering if this was a sign that Ottertail had died as well.
The medicine cat learned something about Rainkit. Rainkit didn't respond to speaking, and couldn't talk very well. After doing some testing, he learned Rainkit was deaf.
Asterclaw, becoming bitter towards Rainkit, and worried about Ottertail, he decided to abandon Rainkit and the clan to go on a journey to find Ottertail. He, nor Ottertail have been seen since. It's assumed they both died.
Once Rainkit seemed to have regained enough strength to leave the medicine den, she was brought to the nursery and was adopted by a queen who had just had kittens named, Primrosefur.
The older kits poked fun at Rainkit for being deaf and would talk down about her. At first she didn't pay attention and didn't know what they were talking about but she began to catch on to the kits were saying. She began to notice that most of the clan treated her differently as well, and didn't expect much from her. Rainkit decided from that point on she'd prove them wrong and become the best warrior she could be. However, while observing the apprentices and warriors she realized she didn't really have an interest in fighting or hunting, and was alot more interested in learning about being a medicine cat. Upon realizing her interest in learning, Flamepelt decided Rainkit seemed like a pretty good candidate to become the medicine cat apprentice.
