"..I-I'm sorry.."
"Why are you apologizing?! You're the one who's injured-"
"Kids.." Lee sighed, fixing them both with a scolding look. "Stop arguing, I can't focus."

Ember huffed and looking pointedly at Tony with a strange mix of concern and frustration. Tony smiled weakly at him before looking at the ground with a thoughtful expression. It looked sad.

Lee sighed again, shaking his head before returning his gaze to the bleeding gashes on Tony's face. It looked painful but Tony was as calm as ever when he and Ember walked out the woods. Speaking without a wince despite the wound cutting into one corner of his mouth.

"I'm not used to using this magic, so I need some silence please.. Save the arguing for later at Dr. F's office." Both of them visibly deflated, Brook babbling in the same scolding tone. This family has had too many trips to Dr. F's, no one particularly liked going back there.
The silence lasted at least 5 minutes before Ember stomped at the ground once again in frustration.

"I just don't understand why you would do that-!"
"It was instinctive, I told you on the way here, there's no deeper reason-!"

Lee groaned, the wavering light in his palm disappearing as he dragged it across his face instead. Such incessant children, why'd he have to pick the two siblings that couldn't help but push the other's buttons?
Were all siblings like this? He's glad he was an only child.
"Could you two please be quiet long enough for me to heal Tony? If I can manage to heal most of it now then it may not be as bad when Dr. F is done with it." Ember pouted at him while Tony ducked his head, wings fidgeting on his back.

"It doesn't matter if you heal it now, it won't save it.."
It was a whisper but it sounded like a scream to them all. Ember's angry expression crumbled into the same sadness he saw when she ran out the bushes ahead of her brother, calling for Lee to come help them. Vigil kwooed softly with a paw on Tony's leg while Brook whined softly at the somber change in his siblings.
Lee frowned.
"I sure hope you didn't learn that sort of attitude from me." Lee pinched Tony's cheek gently, the dark blue quad blinking at him in surprise. He moved his paw to his chin, tilted his son's head to the position before and raising his other paw to his eye. It started to glow a little faster than the last time at least. "I know I was a mess when I had my accident, but that's no way to think about getting hurt and losing something. Though nothing may be returned, at least you won't be bleeding all over Dr. F's hand as he looks it over."
Tony let out a puff of air which Lee was going to take as a laugh. His amber eyes flickered to Lee's side for a moment before looking back up to him.
He looked so lost, Lee couldn't help the sad smile that came to his face.
He really raised these two.

"You know I'm going to ask you what happened right?"
Tony closed his eyes, Ember looking like she wanted to do the same but keeping them on her brother.
"It doesn't have to be today, but I need to know what happened. I know something changed with you two." Tony's brow furrowed, probably confused on how Lee could even tell. His sister's face is an open book, he hopes he learns that soon.
"You two decide on a day, when you're ready.. And I'll answer anything you two have questions about."
Ember looked at him in confusion, Tony's tail thumping on the grass a couple times.
"I don't share a lot, but you're my children and I don't want to keep secrets and leave you wondering." The wound on Tony's face finally shifted to a less angry red. It would scar, Lee realized with a disappointed click of his tongue. He hoped that it wouldn't trouble Tony too much.. "And I hope the same from you two, if you are willing."

Ember looked hesitant, looking to the trees behind their home for a second before slowly nodding.
Tony opened his eyes, blinking slowly and quickly running his eyes over Lee, a less sad acceptance in his eyes as he also nodded in agreement.

"Great."
