Description
It had been days since they crashed into the woods. Lee suspected they were deep in the forest with the constant feelings of being watched and dread, and they've had to hide too many times from spites.
Thankfully they hadn't seen a kindrin since the crash, but yittles were just as troublesome with their faint giggles and tormenting of Tony. He's had to wake up Tony from way too many nightmares than he felt comfortable with.
Speaking of Tony, the poor kid has clung onto him the entire time. He only let go of Lee once so they could wash most of the blood off of themselves, but even then the wyngling never let the adult out of his sight, even through the sniffles and tears. He knew it wasn't good to let Tony cling onto him or feed anymore paranoia to the spites, but he was certain if he let his son go he would lose him. Lee didn't want to be alone, and he certainly didn't want Tony to be alone either.
It was difficult to find food this far from the nova tree and Lee didn't like the look of bones and scrappy fur on Tony, but at least with his magic water wasn't a problem. If he could find some seeds maybe he could try and sprout them to feed Tony..
Lee snapped out of his thoughts at a soft whimper from his side, frowning at Tony's intense grip on his fur. Frantic amber eyes put him on edge once more. "What's wrong Tony..?" He mumbled, hunching further into the large tree they had decided to rest under. "They're back..."
Lee stared for a moment before looking up through the bushes. It was too dark for him to see anything through the shrubbery, but he was certain the yittles were watching. They always targetted Tony. "Shh.. it's alright.. th-they won't come near us.." At the stutter in his voice a white figure came into his periphery.
"S-shi- Come on Tony, close your eyes." Another figure appeared besides it. He thought yittles were more skittish! Did they really think he and his son were so weak they were safe to attack them up front?
Easily pulling Tony up to his chest, he adjusted the wyngling's arms to wrap around his neck. With a slight wince at the contact Tony made with his still fresh scar, he slowly walked away from the gathering spites. "You want to hear another story about m-my parents, Tones?" He felt Tony nod weakliy, hiding his face in Lee's neck. Soft giggles and sounds of grass moving alerted him that they yittles were following.
He quickened his pace.
"W-Well.. I-I remember when I was barely ha-hatched.. my dad had cried so much more than my m-mom.." His heart warmed at the memory, but the freezing fear stayed in his mind. "My mom wou-wouldn't let him n-near me until he stopped cr-crying so much... it-it took him a while.."
The giggles got louder, a quick glance behind him assured him of more following them.
"I th-think... I-I think y-you're a lot like hi-him.. you.. y-you're as kind as he was.."
Tony shook in his arms, signalling that he had started to cry once more. The yittles grew louder.
He felt something lightly touch his remaining wing.
Lee flinched away from the touch, fear finally taking over as he ran through the trees as fast as he could. Bushes smacked into his legs, mostly adrenaline guiding him through the trees in the darkness. It got denser as they ran, areas to run through narrowing and too many branches and roots blocking paths. But Lee had to lose the yittles somehow, only something dangerous could come from their newfound confidence. He was weak, he's been too paranoid to sleep an alright amount of hours and his ribs stuck out sharply even in the night. His breath started to shallow, spots of blurriness now plaguing his vision. He survived the whole time in the woods without panicking, why was he in the worst moment?! Lee blinked rapidly, trying to force the blurriness away so he could see where he was going, only to find his vision getting hazier.
Wait, did something just fly out of the ground near them?
A small thud caused him to glance back, eyes widening at the surprisingly, strange sight. From what he saw, he noticed the small herd of terrifying yittles getting rocks and chunks of dirt thrown at them from the ground. He wanted to look back to see if that was really what he had just seen, but he could use this distraction to get to safety. Tony needed to be safe.
With his last bit of energy, he pushed himself forward, giggling and whispers slowly getting farther and farther away till he could no longer hear them. He slowed to a jog, gasping for air as Tony nuzzled his face closer into Lee's fur. "W-We're.. W-we're okay..."
He settled to weakly dragging his feet across the grass until they suddenly felt cold, pausing and glancing down as he realized they were in front of a pond. It... Looked kind of familiar.... Did..... Too tired....
He carefully settled onto his knees in the water, sighing softly at the faint relief of his scrapes. Was it good to let his scratches be dipped in the water?... Mmm... He felt... really tired for some reason..... He should find some seeds for Tony....
"D-dad...? Yo- Are you gonna faint?...."
Lee stopped swaying immediately, frowning at the fact that he had been doing it unconciously. Was something wrong with him? He looked at the blood still stuck in his fur on his right side, tilting his head slightly.
...
Hmm... gotta get food...
"N-No Tony.... Let.. Let me try to get you something to eat, then you can try to re-rest up again...
