The internet is copium, Kyle. It has replaced practically all substance and meaning to our existence, that the rest of the modern world has all but burned to ashes.
"then why do you use it?"
Because reality as it has become has turned copium into a necessity, rather than a commodity. If a reservoir has replaced all natural features in the area, and someone is shitting in it, then no matter how much I hate both the reservoir and the bastard shitting in it, I'm gonna get dehydrated eventually.
"why don't you move?"
You mean to another town with the same situation, or to what little unspoiled wilderness we have left, only to find myself hunted without reason by the very society which I had been hoping to avoid? Well, who knows: maybe with enough scrap metal and ingenuity, I can live a peaceful, fulfilling life until they arrive, and die a glorious, violent death when they do.
