How do we return to the innocence
of our previous childishness?
Can we find the simplicity of yesterday
with our jump-ropes, freeze tag and make-believe play?
Should we ignore our souls’ request?
Continue to give in, let go and accept the least
in every man, woman and relative beast.

I say we step back and glance
at how we escape from this hellish dance.
Look at the little ones we have molded
to see how they manage without disillusionment and hatred.
Let’s bring back our faith
in ourselves, each other and life.
