The movie was weird... Why the hell didn't Hasbro make them have NORMAL skin tones?!?!?!?

They were worried that people would fuss over who should be black or white, and claim racism to certain things, so they lightened each character's skin tones to avoid those potential problems.

But realistic.
Remember those soccer moms who got all upset over Derpy's adorkable eyes and voice? And Hasbro got rid of both? Honestly, they should've said: "This show teaches love and tolerance, and by hating Derpy for who she is, you are not displaying either." Besides, they were getting it wrong. The fans think she's adorable. (it's the haters who think she's stupid, but they're haters)

But people fuss about everything! And it turns out that a lot of people had negative comments because their skin tone was weird. And it shouldn't be too hard to figure out who'd be white or black. Like it would be obvious to make AJ a Western/Southern American, Rarity could be a French Lady, Pinkie... I... got nothing. Rainbow could be a female jock. Twilight... a geeky adult, and Fluttershy... a vet. It's not an excuse!

People do fuss about everything. Which is why Hasbro would rather have people saying: "Why are there blue and/or purple humans? That's kinda strange." than "OMG why is almost everyone white/black?! That's completely racist! I don't like this movie/ I'm suing Hasbro for racism!"
It's sad that I'm developing this mentality, but after they changed Derpy for the reasons they did, I can understand part of the reason I'm getting there.
Also: Rarity would still be a clothes designer, Pinkie would still help run a bakery shop, Fluttershy could be a vet and an adoption store owner, and Twilight would still be in college.

Yeah, but if you even out the races of people in one show, then the viewers really don't have a reason to complain. And personally... i think there are more reasons why people can comment either negatively or positively about their "alien-like" skin tones. For example: "How is it that they're blue or purple and the "regular" skin toned people are totally oblivious to their strange color.?" I mean seriously... the FBI or CIA SHOULD have suspected something about them, but since they didn't it just goes to show... that everyone in the show is completely stupid to notice such an obvious feature.
Also... by any chance did you see ANY black people in the movie?

Second: It could've been a universe where skin tones could've been any color of the rainbow. You pointing out the flaw in logic in a show about friendship and MAGIC.
Third: no, I didn't. I saw more pastel than anything, like My Little Pony usually is.

First of all: This is Earth! We could care less about magic (friendship... we need that so we don't nuke each other)
Second of All: I'm now mad that no black people were in the movie. Placing this into my list of racist movies...
Just goes to show what the northeast thinks about...

First: friendship and magic are cool, despite only the former being on Earth (as far as we know).
Second: that is a shame, but the movie used practically the exact same color palette that's in My Little Pony, which typically focuses on bright pastel colors, especially for the ponies. Now that I think about it, Doctor Whooves is one of the few brown ponies in the show. I guess Hasbro doesn't really consider brown to be a pastel.
Third: the show is targeted at little girls, so it's predictable that most of the characters would be female.

Thank you for providing a perfect example of the sort of fan discussed earlier--the obsessive fanatical nitpicker who searches tirelessly for something to whine and carp about and then proves psychologically incapable of letting it go.
The sort of fanatic who kept kicking up a fuss about Derpy, even after Hasbro and iTunes settled their issues, until Hasbro decided it was less trouble just to sideline her.

This sounds really stupid. I mean I never really cared for MLP (but the fan made stuff is amazing) yet I didn't hate it and part of that reason was due to the fact that it wasn't another show about kids in school. The characters in the show where for the most part mature adults who had jobs and handle their problems in a fairly mature fashion. But this movie is just going to be about all the drama of being in high school and how tough it is being a kid and whine, whine, whine.

I don't see what everyone's getting upset about with Spike being a dog. I mean, what were you all expecting him to be? A monkey? An octopus? He can't be another human due to the fact that ponies are the humans, leaving dragons, a completely different species, to have to choose something else. And since dinosaurs are extinct, also since Spike is a dog's name, btw, A dog is the only thing that Spike could be that would make human-world sense.
Oh well, it doesn't matter if the bronies, which everybody already hates, don't like Twilacorn or EG: they both now canon, so you bronies can suck it.

I think you mean "Bronies". Most bronies I knew were skeptical at first, but then after seeing the actual trailer and stuff they were okay with it. Just not the old designs where they still had their ears and tail-like hair extensions. They looked like Monster High knock offs.
